Now, if I can just get my son back to sleep everything will be fine...we've played with his trains, pushed him around on his tractor, have ate an early breakfast and watched the Wiggles...it just seems like 2:30 was a good time for him to wake up for the day  >:(

2 years in and haven't had to deal with that yet. The other night after a few times waking up and asking for a drink, I played Captain Hard-Butt and told her she couldn't get up again until I got her in the morning. Surprisingly, it worked. At least someone at home listens to me.

Maybe my problem is I'm not a big scary former lineman that commands respect!!!  ;D ;D ;D

And my wife never listens to me either!!!

Off topic but:
Congrats to Wrestling Coach Miller and Knights for winning 121st straight Iowa conference dual match.  Going for 16 straight conf. titles in less than 2 weeks.

The fieldhouse in the W is just about done and will be used for indoor track meet tomorrow. Photo from 2nd floor @ www.go-knights.net.

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Alfred-
Is there any spectator seating in there?

Looking outside at all the snow that is coming down got me thinking about weather extremes.

What is the coldest game you can remember playing in or attending?
The 3 that immediately jump to mind are:
2007 Central vs. St. John's - Did the sideline reporting for that one and I was shivering by the end of the game.
1997 Simpson at Dubuque - One thing I really remember from this game was that Simpson's kicker was still going barefoot w/ 3 inches of snow on the ground and wind chills below 0
2003 Wartburg at Dubuque - Not near as cold as the nighttime IIAC tourney soccer matches I was covering the night of and before the game, but this one was still pretty chilly

What is the hottest game you can remember playing in or attending?
Attending would probably be the 2003 Wartburg-Simpson game in Waverly.  Homecoming Saturday and it was probably about 85 degrees.  I was told I had it better on the field becuase of how crowded the bleachers were.
Playing would have been my senior year of high school when we played at West Dubuque the first game of the year.  They let school out a couple hours early because of the heat but we still played that night.

Worst field conditions snow?
Without a doubt, it was Bethel at Central last fall.  I've never seen anything like that and with any luck, never will again.
1998 I went to Simpson @ Loras and there were probably 4-5 inches of snow that hadn't been cleared out of the bleachers, but the field didn't look that bad.

Worst field condition rain/mud?
My sophomore year of high school we played up at Starmont the last game of the year.  Freezing rain all game long.  After having 3-4 games on that field already that year, their field was just a mess.

Ever not able to make it to a game?
Not because of weather.  When Wartburg made the playoffs in '03, we didn't have it in the TV station budget for me to go to Oregon for a second time.  The next year I didn't go up to Moorhead because I had already planned to go to the NCAA XC meet in Eau Claire.  I kinda felt bad not going to the football game, but with 3 weeks left in that season it looked like BV was going to win the league and I wouldn't have to worry about it.  If the Beavs don't fold like a cheap card table, there wouldn't have been a decision to make.

Worst road trip experiance?
That Wartburg playoff game in '02 wasn't great, but since I had rented a car I didn't have to deal with many of the bus issues.  But we did still have to wait for the team to get back to the airport before we could leave.  I don't know that I've ever seen Coach Willis as pissed as he was when he walked into the airport that night

Best road trip experiance?  (and that probably shouldn't include any stories about catholic high school girls or cheerleaders)
Storm Lake for Wartburg-BV basketball in '05.  ;)

Let's hear some good stories.

Do we have a karma troll roaming the boards past midnight?  I have not said anything in two days and droped 4 karma points.

I have seen this thing happen over on the MIAC board and it get downright pathetic.

At Coe in 2003.  It was cold and there had been rain and it was overall a miserable day to play football.

What is the hottest game you can remember playing in or attending?
This would have to be Gustavus in 2003.  I did not get to play in this game, thus I was hurt.  But I do recall it being down right terrible.

Worst field conditions snow?
Luther in 2003.  We were playing up there and it went from rain to snow and then back to rain.

Worst field condition rain/mud?
Coe in 2003.  You were covered in mud after warm ups.  We did beat them that day, so it made it that much better.  I do recall tackeling one their d lineman on a FG attempt due to loss of footing.  No call on that one, I believe most would call that getting away with murder.

Ever not able to make it to a game?
NO
Worst road trip experiance?
The worst road trip experiece would have to be going over to Luther.  Nothing extreemly bad happened but it always took so long, and my first trip I had to ride on the short but with no tv's.  So needless to say you mind found some interesting things to think about.

Best road trip experiance?  (and that probably shouldn't include any stories about catholic high school girls or cheerleaders)
Best road trip would have to be coming home from Central in 2003.  We played them at Souteast Polk High School because the week before the ruined their field due to rain.  We beat them for the first time in 30 some years.  The ride back was a nut show.  I do recall one person making a bold statment that they did make happen later night.

Haven't been around for awhile, but thought some of you might enjoy this story about one of our own that did okay after leaving the IIAC.

http://www.central.edu/athletics/story.cfm?StoryID=1571

Always nice to see priorities in place with a focus on the here and now and family.

Klopenhiemer

Dog you asked for storeis so I am going to tell one.  I was going to hold this back but I figure what the heck.  Since I was just on the karma issue this story is all karma!

When we went down and played Central in 03' the first half was pretty tight, but we were running the ball very well.  In some cases we were running the ball a little to well.  But needless to say im sure Show liked having larger holes to run through.

We get to half time as we are walking back onto the field to start the second half we get a bit vocal in our walk.  Now there is nothing but a sea of red as we are walking.  And if anyone has ever been to SEP High School you know its a bit of a trek from the school to the field.

So I was walking next to one of my ususal loud mouth friends.  Everyone was giving there usual scream of "lets go beavs" ect, ect, ect.  As we approach the field, there is the lady standing there with black rimed glasses on.  Right as we start to into a slow jog, there is one last screm "today is the day" and this lady steps out in front and looks at us/almost makes us come to a complete stop.  All she says is " your going down big boy"!  Myself nor my usually loud, rude, and excentric teammate did not say a word, rather just looked at eachother.

When we walked off the field that day I looked for her.  She was standing there looking at us like we just kicked her dog.  Now I have no idea who this lady was.  I also do not think she would normally make such obsence comments to players, but it was karma at its best.

I do not tell this story in order to down grade Central or take a pot shot at them.  They are a great team, with a great tradion, and have good upstanding fans.  All of us who played/follow/graduated from places like UD, BV, Corn, know how sweet a against big red can be.  So Central fan, take my last tid bit as a compliment.  Everyone want to beat the best and we savor those victories.

I never saw a 3 keg party and dancing girls after big win over Waldorf!  Please do not see the last comment as what happend after the Central win ;D

It is "The Show" who does it, he has two accounts and gives himself karma, while hitting you twice in one day.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

The Show

That would be a +100 karma story if available.

I do remember plenty of Central fans lined up along that fence talked smack as we walked by, but I must have gotten by the lady before she jumped in the path.

If I recall correctly, one of your favorite Valley tackles paved the way to the endzone for me once. :)

Seriuosly I don't know who does it, but why care about karma when one school dominates the board.  I mean c'mon, you think footballdaddy deserves more karma than dutchfan2004, I think not.   The reason I say that is dutchfan2004 is always courteuos and encouraging of other teams and posters, and he always tries to keep the conversation going.  While footballdaddy hasn't been around as long.

Sorry coocoo, but Klop is a former Beav, only +k for him.  I know who you're referring to though.

Like I've told Walston numerous times, our karma seems to drop once the Coe guys start posting to defend themselves...

Klompen, great read re: Den Herder

Klop, great story about your Central win.

I WOULD be able to tell you stories about what happened after the Spartans beat Central this past fall...but, um, yeah, it didn't happen  >:(

doolittledog

I don't think it's a coincedence that the guys on this board that also post often on the MIAC boards suffer karma losses on a regular basis.
