I heard since Marv Levy resigned as Bills GM he's interested in returning to the sidelines @ Coe.

Hey, nobody was supposed to know that.

As far as concerts, I was at this one.
Pearl Jam opened
Smashing Pumpkins was second
Red Hot Chili Peppers  closed
Chicago  '91 if memory serves me correct.

or
second to last Dead show ever in Soldiers field Chicago, took my girlfriend, she became my wife.

Sorry Coocoo if I started something here and the rumors got out.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

How about names???
I can tell you two names who aren't among the four being interviewed -- Staker and Zebrowski. That's about all I know, other than the candidates are said to all have had d3 head coaching experience.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Charlie do you know if Staker wasn't interested or Coe wasn't interested?

He applied and (I think) would have been an excellent choice. However, he wasn't selected for an interview. Given John Chandler's track record, I'm not concerned.

Every once in a while I actually have work to do  ;D

Purple Heys

Concerts:

The Boss "Born in the USA" tour at the Fabulous Forum in LA   3.5 hours seemingly non stop

When I was 16, Robin Trower, Rush "2112 Tour" and Alice Cooper at the Orange Show in San Berdoo...my first concert.  Rush blew me away with Geddy Lee's vocals and Neal Peart on drums.  1975

George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers at Campbell Hall on UCSB's campus.  A lecture hall by day.  800 people packed in for 3+ hours.  Raw. 1979

One for the books:  A burnt out Robby Kreiger at the FUBAR in Santa Barbara with his with a keyboardist, drum and bass.   A shack of a bar with the former Doors guitarist ekeing out the remnants of his fame.  Very cool though with the "Lizard King" tales that prefaced the songs.  1978

You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Superfoot Wallace

Heys,

Better three man band, Rush or Triumph?

Oh and that was a typo in my earlier post, Faith No More and Guns n' Roses were with Metallica.

signed,
Cream
See that, that spells Adidas

OK, how about worst concerts?

Mine was Stevie Nicks with Joe Walsh about 1983. Walsh did three songs and split. Stevie was so wasted she thought she was in anither city and couldn't remember the lyrics to most of the songs. i made the future wife angry, but we left early.

I'm not counting the Billy Squire show that he was over three hours late for. I had to work the next day and left before that one started.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Also a request that everyone take a moment and wish Wartburg Fan good luck with his surgery tomorrow.

BV Outlook for 2008.

We were a senior heavy team and will have some big shoes to fil.

OL/TE:  We loose Hobart, Schulz, McKee, and others
QB:  We lost Hawkins
WR:  We lost Kauffman, Stewart, and others
RB:  We have a nice sophmore who should be ready to step in an shoulder the load
DL:  Amick, Bredehoeft, and others gone
LB/DB:  Nystrom, Pierece, Sly, and others are all gone.

Case in point.  We have a lot of holes to fill and I think their might be some qaulity kids to step into these roles.  I am of the impression that there are a couple solid QB's waiting in the wings and some good young OL/DL prospects.

We have to get better upfront and run the ball on a more consistant basis.  On the other side of the ball its pretty easy.  Limit the big plays, get into 3rd and long situations, pressure the QB.  If we can do these things then we will be competitive.  I am not saying conference champs, but we will win some ball games.

I have not heard any reports on how recruiting is going for the boys up NW IA.  I did see that some talent was gobbled up by the NISC schools and Missouri D2 conference.  Lets hope that we limited the amount that went to Morningside, Briar Cliff, Dort, Waldorff, and Northwestern.

By the way, did anyone else take a look at who UIU brought in?  I believe that they only singed 9 guys.  What is up with this!

Sly will be back.  He had a med red from one of his previous seasons.  As far as recruiting goes, I haven't heard much.  I do know that one of the South O'Brien guys that Jay really wanted ended up signing with NW.  That's about all I've heard as far as official decisions.

Good to hear that Sly will be back.  The lord knows that kid went the heck and handbasket with injuries early in his career.

What is the deal with the SOB kid?  Did not like BV or did NW throw some money that to hard to walk away from?  What did he play?

Probably would have been a TE or possibly DE.  His older brother played at NW, and he landed a pretty good financial aid package to seal the deal.

I know this isn't football-related, but I thought of this today and thought it might be interesting to ask. Did anyone else on this board see the results from the Grammys and puke?  Amy Winehouse and Herbie Hancock were the big winners.  In (dis)honor of the Grammys, what are the best musical performances everyone on here has seen live?  With the geographic and generational diversity on this board, I bet we have some interesting answers.

My top five:

Rolling Stones/Blind Melon, Ames 1994 - I was 9 and my parents took me.  Probably the coolest thing ever.

Rolling Stones/Jonny Lang, Phoenix 2003 - With my parents again.  This time I knew what that funny smell was.

Lynyrd Skynyrd/Hank Williams Jr., Sioux City 2007 - Hank rocked, Skynyrd was pretty good.  Lots of white trash.

Toby Keith/Ted Nugent, Omaha 2005 - Ted shot an effigy of Saddam in the head with his bow.  'Nuff said.

Brad Paisley, Spencer Iowa 2004 - Just him with a guitar, no backing band.

I was at that Stones/Blind Melon concert at Ames!!!  We tailgated for what seemed like 12 hours or so.  A friend of mine that would later be the best man at my wedding drank too much and we pulled into someones driveway on the way home and he threw up!!!  I also saw the Stones with Lenny Kravitz in Madison earlier that summer.

Pink Floyd in Madison in 1994 would also rank up there for me.  It was raining and everybody had ponchos on which kept whatever it was they were smoking all to themselves!!!

U2 in Madison in 1992 was pretty good as well as U2 in Iowa City in 1987.

Aerosmith/Guns n Roses 1988??? in Ames

And I have to mention seeing the Wiggles at the Mark in 2004, in St. Paul in 2005 and in Ames in 2006 rank right up there.  They put on a good show and watching the look on our daughters faces when they come on stage is priceless.

Now hopefully the look on my sons face this coming fall when my dad and I take him to some IIAC games will be just as priceless!!!

That's awesome that we were at the same concert.  You must not have been the only one tailgating all day because I remember the lines at the spot-a-pots being longer than at any event I've ever been to.

B.O.Y. -thanks for an off topic discussion starter.  I needed something to keep me occupied from work for awhile.  Here is my list of concerts.

#5 Motley Crue at the La Crosse Center - Cheap ticket, cheap beer (sort of), and lots of Tommy Cam (later learn a former co-worker was one of the gals who refused to take part in T. Lee's shenanigans)

#4 Eddie Money at the Delaware County Fair - All the beer and food you can eat and drink while listening to hits like "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Shakin" makes for one hell of a good bachelor party for a college friend.  This concert was my new definition of "Two Tickets to Paradise"

#3 Dazy Head Mazy at Buster's in Mankato, Blackhorse in Winona, and Loon's in La Crosse - A local band from Minneapolis.  Lot's of fun.  Super Cheap.  And they love to interact with the crowd (been up on stage a few times)

#2 Ozzfest 2001 at Somerset, WI - First MAJOR big concert I ever went to.  $40 and I got to see some big names like Slipknot, Papa Roach, Drowning Pool, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Mudvayne, and of course Black Sabbath/Ozzy

#1 Rush at Xcel Engery Center - I always said I can not die until I see Neil Peart in person...I can officially die now.  Seats were off to the side, but it just gave us a better view of the drummer.  Klop, you will have an AMAZING time...I would recommend this concert to all.

A few honorable mentions...Weird Al (first concert ever-kind of geeky, nerdy, but still a lot of fun), Prince (newer big band sound, sold all his rights to the classics so those were all accoustic...plus Morris Day and the Time opened), Skid Row, Vince Neil, and Poison (really got me into 80's rock)

TME  I am looking foward to it.  I can not say that I have been a life long Rush fan, but really started listening to them a few years ago, and really started to like them.
