I think its a little odd that Staker didn't at least get an interview. I respect the guy greatly and I would have had to take a little different approach to what I thought about Coe.
Not a huge change, but a little.

Not trying to get anything going, but what are your feelings on Coe?

Charlie do you know if Staker wasn't interested or Coe wasn't interested?
He applied and (I think) would have been an excellent choice. However, he wasn't selected for an interview. Given John Chandler's track record, I'm not concerned.

Staker basically got stiffed by Coe.   Charlie, if John Chandler is such a genius then why has Coe never won the All-Sports trophy?  Why don't they have any better facilities as a result of his great relationship with all the wealthy alumni?

Staker could have got the job done in recruiting.

I would agree that Coach Staker got stiffed but I do think Chandler is a great AD.  He cares about the athlete which is what you want if you're a player.   His hands are just tied!   Coe really missed and opportunity here by not at least letting him interview.   What do you think will happen now if he stays on staff?

and Charlie, there is at least one of the candidates that is an O-Coordinator and has never been a head coach, can you guess which one?

CoeNation,
Where are you getting your info from?  Seems to be a pretty tight lipped search.......message me with any info you have if you want to.

hopefully St. Olaf and Coe won't be competing for the same coach.  I fear that the Owls will be hard to compete with.

So, the water-cooler gossip this morning is that Central landed some very prime recruits from the CIML for next season.

Details?!?!

Who are these players???

Are these recruits a result of Central bringing in Phanz or whoever that guy was that had been at Coe???

What were there stars on Rivals...ok, I'm just kidding about that one.

Without revealing my source (who may or may not be accurate <-- how''s that for a disclaimer??) :)  I hear that Central will soon be home to Nate Snead (currently at Drake), Brett Wilkin (currently at Iowa), Ben Burzacott, Shane Wong -- all standouts on the SEP 2006 Championship team.

Again, water cooler speculation....

Any other word from other schools about big recruits coming in?

I think it would be pretty interesting to see how D3 schools did as far as recruiting class rankings.  Probably would be difficult to keep track of who is going where when you don't have to sign a letter of commitment to play at this level.

Being up in the "Cheese State" and now in "da soudurn Canadian Providence don'tcha know" (Uff Da)...I haven't been able to follow Iowa High School FB much.  Who were the state champs this year?  Any good runner-ups or teams that fell short that shouldn't have?

Capn Crunch

Ginn heading to Grand Valley State! That goes to show you that quality coaches rise to the top regardless of what division they coach in. I had no idea that NC Weslyan had made it to the playoffs as well. That is impressive for such a young program. Wartburg faithful, any word if Wheels is going to be heading to Michigan as well?

Central got a great Recruiter in Pfantz, and a great coach as well (real intense guy).  Word on the street is that Raeburn offered him the D-Coord. job at Wabash, but Pfantz turned it down becuase he was just hired on at Central...
Pfantz does a good job recruiting the central iowa area.

Only about a hand full of D1 recruits in the state so Ia Conf. should get some good players.

If Central gets Nate Snead I will be extremely impressed. I thought he was an excellent high school player. I always hold my breath about transfers until they are actually on campus. I heard Matt Stockdale was transferring from Iowa to Central for two years and he was still a Hawkeye (and a beautiful person) when his career ended.

Yeah, I'm cautiously optimistic myself -- like you said, it's one thing to speculate in February, but who knows what will happen between now and then?

They may work construction for one of the Wartburg coaches over the summer, afterall....  ;D

Now you've done it Dutchie!!!

And I thought we all came to an agreement that it was impossible to recruit CIML kids to IIAC schools  ;D
