As I look outside at ANOTHER snow storm...and a friend just told me he read there is a possibility we could get snow into May this year...I'm starting to think we've had it all backwards trying to talk Purple Heys into moving the family unit to Iowa.  If I have to clear snow from my walks and deck 3 more times this winter I might check into how much Purple would charge to rent out Heys Jr's old bedroom to a family of 5!!!  I have a feeling he would charge $33,250 for a 1 year lease!!!

Now onto D-III recruiting.  You always hear coaches saying they will know more about their recruiting class when August camp starts and they find out just which players actually show up.  Now, coaches recruit kids and hope that they actually show up on campus for the start of football practice.  My question is, can a kid show up that wasn't recruited by the coaching staff and ask to practice with the team???  Will they take all comers or will they tell the kid they don't know anything about him so too bad???

I don't think BV ever cut a kid while I was there or told a kid no.  I'm not aware that it ever happened, but if a kid showed up to play, the more the merrier.  If nothing else...scout team.

Just another day in paradise here too Doolittle. Winter storm warning until midnight, freezing rain should turn to snow with 6 to 12 inches expected. I was begining to worry my snow shovel would rust.

So do you leave near Mt. Horeb or Mineral Point???  We played golf often in Mineral Point while I lived in Dubuque and Mt. Horeb was my last check point while flying between Dubuque and Madison.

We got our freezing rain over night with it turning into snow around 7 this morning.  Just got done with round 1 of shoveling.  Got the first layer of snow off and the frozen rain underneath cleared off.  I can't wait for my kids to get a little older so they can start helping their old beat up dad!!!

Less than twenty miles from both towns. I've tore up sod at Dodge-Point many times. Savoir those moments when your kids are old enough to help you, but not to busy to help you. It's a pretty small window.

He's got his game face on today-- This guy has all the tools---kind of a lackluster preformance-- I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Yea, I see your point.

Till May then maybe we need to call spring football winter or snow time football .

I dont know about the rest of the conference but the new coaching staff over at Simpson is going to do big things this season. Simpson has the majority of their offensive starters returning and most of their defensive starters are coming back as well. The storm are going to be a powerful force in the IIAC the coing fall.

Word on the street is that WB is trying to not recruit as many freshemn for next season. I beleive that this year's freshmen class has lost over 50% of those who started camp in August.

My opinon is that a "walk on" wouldn't be chased off, but would not receive the attention that a recruited player woud receive.

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."
