Does anyone else find the whole Coe thing very strange?

I ventured into this territory a while ago and Charlie puffed up like a big rooster, and sent my post back with red pen marks for me to revise and resend.

So this time I am not going to make any harsh statements, or any bold statments.

I really thought that their would be more information regarding this, and an announcement by now.

But it sounds like recruiting is going well for them, so they might not need to hire a new head coach.  Didn't someone say coaching by committe? 8)

So TME seems to know who will be the next Coe coach, yet Coocoo and Charlie are nowhere to be found.  Coincidence?  Yeah, probably.

i didn't say i know who it is

CCIW 945 pages, IIAC 845
CCIW 945 pages, IIAC 855

Yeah, but we're a BASKETBALL conference! :D

IIAC FB 855 + IIAC BB 90 = 945.

CCIW FB 945 + CCIW BB 941 + CCIW in-game updates 161 + CCIW pickems 67 = 2,014.

And this omits the baseball, soccer, etc., boards.

You guys either need to talk a WHOLE lot more, or expand your interests! ;D

To update:

Baseball: CCIW 129 pages, IIAC 5 pages.

Soccer: (no conference pages) Central (mainly CCIW) 56 pages, West (mainly left coast) 7 pages.

The CCIW football board doesn't get much action in the off-season because we're all still together elsewhere!  Are you guys all at (mini)football factories? ;D

Support your other IIAC sports, too! :-* ;)

Dude, you're a one-trick pony!

I won't bother to update the other CCIW totals, but all-sports you're falling further behind.  We don't HAVE to do all our off(football)season chatter on the fb board, 'cause we follow other sports too.  The IIAC has some very good basketball and baseball too -support it! ;)

Sorry, Klop, I'll bow out now!

I just found his 'race' silly, tried to explain why it was silly, and wanted to urge broader support of IIAC teams.  But you're right - I'm out of line 'telling' IIAC posters how to post. :-[

EDIT: Klopenhiemer deleted the post I was responding to - now I feel really bad. :(  But I'll leave this here anyway to explain my long post! :D

I'm guessing by TME's earlier post that someone was offered and turned it down. If something like that happens, it could set the search back a long ways.

Ypsi I was trying to formulate the best post in order to ask the questions in a respectful way.  I accidentaly sent the post with out proof reading for validity.  Once I realized it sounded horrible, I deleted it in respect for you.  At that point I figured it was best not to post on the topic and move forward with the board.  All in all I had no idea why this was an issue to the CCIW folks, what 5 words is actually doing, and why chatting on the football board in the offseason was a big deal.  I hope I did not come across as a jerk or offend you.

Fair point.  From a strictly PR standpoint, if Coe's recruiting efforts have not dropped off, then they may be better off not making an announcement for about 10-14 days.  Anything they would announce between now and about the 10th of March would not get much media coverage because it would be fighting for airtime/column inches with the state basketball tournaments.  But if they could make the announcement the 10th or 11th, they could get a day or two worth of coverage before attention shifts to the Big 10 and Big 12 basketball tournaments and the Big Dance.

Grinnell endowment $1.72 Billion!

From Wikipedia:

Grinnell's $1.72 billion endowment- the largest among the nation's liberal arts colleges- is evident in the college's facilities, art collections, and generous financial aid programs. Under the stewardship of Warren Buffett and Joseph Rosenfield, the college has adopted an opportunistic and innovative stategy in managing its assets. In 1976, Grinnell's capital fund acquired a TV station, one of many investments that were unprecedented in their time for a college endowment. Another innovative move that significantly grew the endowment occurred when Rosenfield and the college contributed to the founding of Intel- an investment exceeding 10% of the venture capital raised to start the semiconductor company (Robert Noyce, Intel co-founder, is a Grinnell alumnus.)  Since the late 1960's, Warren Buffett has played a visible role in growing the endowment at Grinnell, where he serves as a life trustee.

No offense taken. :)  And I doubt any other CCIW folks are concerned either (if any others even know!).  Obviously if you enjoy chatting on the fball board, go for it.  But you're one of the very few I see on the other boards; I just think the IIAC has quality teams in the other sports that deserve more support.

I agree

Hey, we're stubborn over here.  We like to keep one conversation going at once, and we often include other IIAC sports.  But we keep it contained to this board for the most part.  Hell, there were a bunch over here that got a little tore out of shape last fall when we had to start doing the Pick 'Em on another board (and yes, I was one of them).

I can assure you that this isn't even close to being a consideration.
