I enjoyed watching Brett FAV-ruh play.  Entertaining to say the least...I rememeber Sonny Jurgensen flipping the ball behind his back to avoid a sack and try to complete an improbable play.

FAV-ruh was just a likely to try which made it fun to watch.

To me Johnny U. is the greatest ever...but I'm an old school guy.

Johnny U was good.  I have to go with Fran Trakenton though.  That guy could run around and switch directions quicker than any one.  Then find an open guy and get the ball to them.

This thought for the day came across my computer as I was reading everyones' posts.  I felt it actually made some sense and wanted to share it with you.  I'm not trying to start a political debate here.  I just thought the suggestion had some merit.

We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America , but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

Where's that one cow?  Just saying...  I don't think a government agency could list all it's branch office locations without hiring 16 contractors over three projects and holding two Senate hearings, much less locate a unique item from a large group.

I hate to bring up past turmoil on the board, but.......today, for the first time I saw the supposed pass interference called against Nick Weber on the second to last play against Central.  What a horrible call!  Was so sick I didn't even see the referee mistake following that play!
THIS IS...OUR HOUSE!  WHOSE HOUSE?!...OUR HOUSE!  WE RULE....OUR HOUSE!!

Would this be the same Department of Agriculture that recently recalled umpteen million pounds of beef (most of it long-since consumed) for violations dating back 4 years?

This just in, Little Warthog has hired some Knights to help with his and Mrs. Little Warthogs' move to Waverly.  The move coincides with spring break.  It seems there is a potential transfer student who plans on being part of the crew.  How cool would that be to be part a conspiracy to bring in a new Knight?   ::)

Our government is more concerned with the steriods issues in baseball than working on the economy, housing market, and all the other things that are in the tank at this point.

And we wonder why the rest of the world hates us.  I am as red blooded and dead red of a USA man as you can get.  But does anyone get tired to watching Power Lunch and hearing Ben B. and all the economic issues being spewed, while our government is on TV deposing Clemens?  Even a narrow minded, ignorant, college degree holding, horrible spelling person like me can see we might be missing the bigger picture.

My top 4 QB's and rationale.
(These are in no particular order)

Joe Montana:  This hip cat was just as clutch as it gets.  His rings prove it.

Joe Nammath:  Well he kissed that chick on MNF drunk, and that won votes for me, but anyone who wears a fur coat on the beach, and then wins the Super Bowl is a stud.

Bart Star:  "If its going to be, its up me"  Thats the kind of phase I want to hear coming out of my QB's mouth.

John Elway:  Clutch, Super Bowl winner, gunsligner.

Have you listened to Congress during their Q/As w/ Bernacke? Most of them have no economic/financial market background or understanding. Take Hillary, she once said China would eventually own the USA b/c they keep buying our debt...wrong, its debt not equity. I think things get worse when the government gets involved (repubs or dems).

Joe Montana:  This hip cat was just as clutch as it gets.  His rings prove it.

Joe Namath:  Well he kissed that chick on MNF drunk, and that won votes for me, but anyone who wears a fur coat on the beach, and then wins the Super Bowl is a stud.

Why do I favor Johnny U.?  He called his own plays.  He was a gunslinger before they called 'em that name.  The original "4th and inches, fake the dive and throw deep" guy.

Nothing against the other guys, but Johnny U. made you look at that position as the "guy".  I would throw Norm Van Brocklin in there only because of what I read about him and the old guys say on those NFL films shows.  I also like the way those defensive guys would cuss and spit when Fran Tarkenton was mentioned.

Unitas is the reason why guys from PA like the Joes, Namath and Montana, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino wanted to be QB's

Interesting side note:  I lived in Montgomery, Alabama in 1964-65 and around the corner lived Bart Starr's folks.  We got to meet him that summer and he played a little catch.  He seemed like some sort of superhero or something...with his perfect hair and being big and strong.  Cool stuff.  Yet another PH "Brush with Greatness"...though nothing campared to the Mark Ratner concert thing.

Interesting side note #2:  Joe Namath was at his best when on the prowl...in a well documented exchange, he was about to leave a late nite establishment with a lady whose pulchritude was "sub-standard".  His wing man for the night, Ed Marinaro, stopped Broadway Joe and said, "Joe, how can you do this...this chick on her best night is a 6."  As legend has it, Joe cooly replied, "Eddie, it's 3AM and Miss America just ain't gonna walk through that door."

THAT'S why he  makes the LIST.

My weight was always pretty accurate. I think I was listed at 6'2. Might have been stretching it a little. I'm between 6'0 and 6'6 depending on which convenience store I'm walking out of.
Gotta love Blue Collar Comedy.

I do know some guys who's weight was put lower than what they actually were.  ::)

I don't speak for any of the other Rams but Heys Jr. height and weight are accurate.  In HS they inflated him by about 10 pounds.

Heys Jr. actually came up in my thoughts when I this conversation started because my dad and I thought he looked huge out on the field and we have seen plenty of guys that were listed near 6'5 and 235 and he looked bigger than them!!!

This best QB over the decades talk could get pretty fun  ;D ;D ;D

Speaking of politics...

Did you guys hear that Deanna Favre has announced that she wants to replace her husband as the quarterback of the Packers?  She says that after 17 years of watching Brett play and being by his side the whole time, she feels qualified to run the Packers' offense.

Now if you think that sounds ridiculous, then feel free to explain to me how Hillary Clinton's claim that she has "8 years of White House experience" makes her qualified to be President.

My take on the QB over the years

Star and Unitas are a good starting point both great leaders and competitors.  They were the first of the modern throwers.

Then you have to put in Namath but with his knee troubles he was kind of a flash in the pan.

My guy Fran has to be in there as he really racked up the yards and was one of the reasons that they played in Super bowls.  (Kapp was horrible IMHO)  The D carried them a lot too.

Then you have to go with guys like Montana, Marino, Kelly, and Elway.  Young even has a place here as well.

Now we get to Farve, Manning (Peyton), and Brady.  (Eli may one day get there but he has to mature more IMHO).

I think the QB thing is kind of a timing thing.  Games change and offenses change and develop making them each good and different in ways that we can not compare.

Take conditioning and weight lifting and such.  Football players have changed gotten bigger, faster, stronger.  Salaries have had a lot to do with that.  You have to look at the first players mentioned they made good money for that day but nothing like today.  They had other jobs in the off season and did not devote their time 24/7 to the game like now.  So to say that there is a greatest of all time is very subjective IMHO.  To pick one guy out is an impossible task due to bias on everyone's part.  Stats alone do not show or tell the picture.  Oh I forgot one that should be up there.  Bradshaw was a good one as well.  Teams that had good QB's and good RB's are thought of differently as they may not have the stats that some one like Marino had cause IMHO he had to throw the ball to move the ball.  RB's like Payton, Csonka, Foreman, and others had an impact on their teams because they didn't have to throw the ball.  This is a good topic but to find the one best I think you would almost have as many candidates as votes.   ;)

Well if I must I will.  A softball like this needs to be hit out of the park.  Bill was never in bed with Hillary at 3 AM when those calls came in she is talking about.  Who do you suppose answered the phone?  If she took those calls then she can take them now.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
