Kcdutch. Nice post/points. My post was scatter brained and I should have edited it.
All I wanted to say I find it so stupid to depose baseball players, when we have bigger issues.

On a side note I was happy to hear Ben B make a call to the banks to help, instead of relying on our government.

SK....Nice post

My take on American politics is that the most qualified people don't get the job. If this was a hiring process like you or I would do if we were looking to fill a job, those that are left aren't even the best of the applicants let alone the best person available. Our presidential process is that we have a money raising contest then and then only the most unappathetic of the public choses the lesser of the two evils. Add in the electoral college and the public doesn't even get that choice either. Remember, out current leader, by most accounts, didn't win the popular vote in his first election. i wish i had a nice little package that would solve this issue, but I don't. I do believe that the U.S. needs an overhaul of the election process.

Where's the love for Otto Graham in the all-time QB talk???

Attended Northwestern on a basketball schollie...played basketball there 4 years, football 3 years, baseball 2 years...AND was in the BAND!!!

Played 1 year in the NBL just before they merged to become the NBA and won a championship and then played 10 years of pro football first for years in the AAFL and then the last 6 in the NFL and played in the championship game all 10 years.  Pro Football hall of famer and a member of that all 75year team or whatever that was.  He just played before anyone saw him.

He's the only old timer I can think of though that could be thrown in there other than the ones already mentioned.

The electors for the electoral college have been voted by the people.  It does balance out and gives power to smaller states such as Iowa.  You may love it or hate it but it has served our country well over the years.  IMHO if you get rid of the electoral college the midwest becomes fly over country even more.  I do agree with your statements about money and it being a contest to see how much money you can raise.  It does seem however that McCain has put that to some what of a moot point as he won with out the most money in that contest.  Back to the electoral college,  States like California and a few others could decide the whole thing.  The millions of voters in Cali could dwarf states like N & S Dakota, Idaho, Montana, Iowa, Nebraska, RI, and a few others.  Together all the electoral votes even things out and makes the winner need to appeal to a wider section of the US than just say Texas, NY, and Cali.  Our form of government is one of the oldest on the planet and our country is one of the newest really.  It may have its flaws and by no means is perfect but the form of government has served its purpose even when the government does not serve its people.

Football Daddy may be right.  Maybe we need to overhaul it.  The Declaration does have a great opening.  Maybe the time is drawing near to disband this, when Judges and Justices make laws they have no power or have been not voted in by the people.  When politics and getting reelected is more important than making sure our country is safe and prosporous.  Who knows maybe it will happen.

Yordi makes noon news.

KWWL ran a story on their noon news today that showed courtroom footage.  Wartburg was mentioned, but I don't beleive they said anything about he being a football player.  They described the incident and said the judge thought it was in bad taste, but did not think it was criminal.

Watch KWWL at 5:00 and 6:00, they may run it again.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

SK- I love it. I am going to have to cite you when I use that.
By your comments are you starting to lean a little more Red? Or are you still upset about your boy Biden?
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

The best quarterback? - Sonny Jurgenson  ???

Being a  rotund person my self, Sonny is my sentimental favorite.  One time when being questioned by reporters about his weight he responded, "I don't worry about. I throw the ball with my arm not mt belly."  You got to love a guy like that.  ;D

Actually a former professor of ours had sent that to me back before the caucuses.  Obviously, at that point the gag was that she was going to start their playoff game, but given recent events, I decided to adapt it.

I'm still blue as ever, but I really don't like Hillary.  A lot of times when these debates and whatnot come around the talking heads on TV always talk about someone being or looking "Presidential."  While I do believe it is possible for a female to look Presidential, Hillary is not that woman.  She's way too whiny and comes off as if she thinks the rest of the world should just bow down before her.  For as good a politician as her husband was/is, she clearly didn't pick up on some of his best qualities (his humor, his gregariousness, etc.).

I wish we could just elect Bill again. No matter what your position on his private life, the country was pretty good shape while he was president. I know that I was a lot beter off personally then compared to today.

Just wait, once Chipotle Mexican Grill has spread statewide (assuming you live in IA).....you will be much better off than the Clinton years (regardless of who is in the oval office)!!!!!

Speaking of politics...

Did you guys hear that Deanna Favre has announced that she wants to replace her husband as the quarterback of the Packers?  She says that after 17 years of watching Brett play and being by his side the whole time, she feels qualified to run the Packers' offense.

Now if you think that sounds ridiculous, then feel free to explain to me how Hillary Clinton's claim that she has "8 years of White House experience" makes her qualified to be President.

Good one, SK.
I also agree with your comment about her being whiny and acting as if she expects the world to bow down to her.

Did anyone read about the chef or owner who talked about what the two campaigns ordered from his restaurant?  I think it was in the Midwest or South. Hillary and her staffers ordered full dinners, and got the most expensive house specialities, as befitting her supposed status. Their bill came to $1500. The Obamas and their staffers got sandwiches and salads, and their bill came to $200. Gee, no wonder one campaign is having money troubles, and one isn't.

OK, I'm finished with the political stuff, but the Farve comment was just too funny.

Man, I really hate talking politics on boards like these....consider that my official disclaimer for the entire conversation!

One of the things I have enjoyed about this election is that people seem to be voting their mind, rather than, say, women voting for Hilary because she is a woman; black people voting for Obama because of his skin tone. I think that is a huge, huge step towards equality.

I don't, however, like that people are harassing Hilary for not showing more emotion. Seriously, when was the last time someone commented on the male candidates crying or not crying about something. I don't think it comes up unless we have a woman on the ticket, which I think is BS. I'm probably not voting Hilary, but I appreciate her strong showing in the race.

Coco, welcome back -- always love to have you on the board. :) How's the weather in the PacNW?
