The house next door to me is for sale.  Who would I rather have buy it?: (A) a middle class black or Hispanic family - or -  (B) white trash.  I'll take (A) every time.

A firmly believe we are moving to a time when our economic differences will separate us more than our racial differences.  There were times, when Little Warthog was growing up, that the names of the kids playing in our backyard sounded more like the roster of a Latino soccer team than a group of kids playing together in Iowa.  In our community many of the second and third generation of Mexican and Viet Namese immigrants have moved successfully into the financial middle class.   A few months ago we discussed how this will happen in Storm Lake.

So, based on this discussion, if the only people I don't like  >:( or trust  :-\  happen to be persons who own a pair of wooden shoes or whose last names start with Van, Vande, or Vander I'm probably a fairly good guy.
What about the Norse?

4-4 against Central this decade.  7-1 against the Norse...winning mellows the hate a bit I guess!!!

Also Central has 6 IIAC football titles this decade to Wartburgs 3...that might have something to do with it.

when does the decade begin 2000 or 2001  ;D

For me it began in 2000.

Central with titles in 2000-2002 and 2005-2007
Wartburg with titles in 2002-2004

Dubuque with titles in...um, hmm...there are still 2 years left for this decade  ;D

Don't leave the Kohawks out.  They also have three titles.  Central has 4 outright and two shared.  Wartburg has 1 outright and two shared and Coe has three shared.

Warthog,

Hiring the guy from Cherokee makes sense....it will be interesting to see what he can do with more kids, larger program, etc...   I would think that it will be much more difficult for him than at Cherokee because I think that larger schools should be able to defend the spread a little better than a 2A/1A school.  That being said, hopefully the Muskies can keep improving, maybe even take the next step.

Diversity:  An old wooden ship used during the Civil War Era.

Congrats to all the Iowa Conf. schools that did well over the weekend.  It is always good to have positive results on the national scale.

I would be willing to bet that every private school in the state has their own "special" way to help recruit prospective students

I had just been commenting on (read: joking) why Warthog might hate the Dutch more than the Norse...but I could look up what the IIAC teams have done conference wise this decade if you want.

doolittledog

Ok, for this decade...conference only results...and I don't claim my math is correct...I am often wrong.

Central 57-11 : 6 titles
Wartburg 57-11 : 3 titles
Coe 46-22 : 3 titles
Simpson 36-32
BV 34-34
Luther 29-39
Loras 27-41
Cornell 16-52
Dubuque 13-55

I looked it up on the IIAC website so I kind of cheated, but I do find it interesting that the MOW from that IIAC tournament went on to be a head coach in the conference.  Doubt there are many others can make that claim.

Dutch good point but that wasn't mine. A student affored a full ride for academics or athletics deserves it regardless of location, parrents money, or anything else if the school feels this student is worthy of the award.

Giving out money to a student who comes from a diverse background, or giving them money and stating is because they grew up on the wrong side of the tracks os okay with me to. They should be afforded that chance.
Finding out they grew up in plush burb with plenty of moolah and getting this scholorship is another thing.

It pisses me off seeing this happen. I argue I saw more diversity in my life, grew up in a much rougher area, and was given nothing.
I hope you can now see where I am coming from.
Klop-

I see what you are saying, but I think the resentment is often aimed at the wrong group.  Often times, people resent the individuals receiving the money, but shouldn't your resentment be aimed at the institution.  I can't blame students for using any potential financial support (regardless of how much their parents income) possible.  Again, based on being "pissed" on a  scholarship to somebody who doesn't need it financially and maybe hasn't earned it w/ grades or athletically, you should be "pissed" I received any support.  I think we just view this differently, which is OK in this great country.

Dutch, after re-reading my post, that is point thing that I failed to mention.  That is why I always get a little timid posting about things like this, as it is hard to cover all bases, but in this instance, I said what the heck.

My frustations were most deffinatly aimed at the university.  As BOY stated, as good as BV's intentions are, it is creating more dissention and more people who do not view this as a good thing.

DF1...Great post.  I have had similar instances since moving away from Iowa and gaining a group of friends in a new city.  Some have came back with me to IA for various reasons, and it always funny to get their reactions.
The best one being...You mean people who live in DM actually think there are traffic jams and a rush hour ;D.  Priceless.
