No one right so far. This is for +k for me.

Wait a minute, Dubuque's coach went to Central...so I will say Central was the last champ!!!

Tell him what he's won, Walston!

How much does that have to suck for the Luthers of the conference in wrestling???

Finish 4th in your conference and then 7th in the nation!!!

I think that speaks well of the IIAC and how tough the conference truly is in wrestling.

Good job dolittle. +k for you. 4 schools have never won a conference ras'lin title that are currently part of the conf. Who are they?
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

DBQ1965 brought up a good point earlier today.  Could IIAC schools place more wrestlers into the national tourney and therefore place higher as a team there if they were in a conference not as tough as the IIAC???

I guess with the amount of wrestlers the NCAA lets the IIAC bring that really isn't relevant.  Plus the tough competition in the IIAC prepares you even more for the nationals.

DF2K4...those stats really show how much of a 3 team race this conference has been this decade.  Central not losing to any team more than once other than Coe and Wartburg.

DutchFan2004

It has been a three team race in the past decade.  Interesting though Coe has no out right titles and Wartburg only 1.  Wartburg is 4-4 with the Dutch and only three titles.  Coe is 3-5 with three titles.  Does seem that the road to the championship comes through Pella.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

On the diversity issue, I would like to note that many studies have shown that academic achievement is closely tied to parents' education and income levels more than any other factors.  There are many white kids who go to school for next to nothing because their families are poor.  That is the purpose of grants as opposed to scholarships--they ease the financial burden for those who lack outstanding grades or the financial means to pay out of pocket.  Traditionally, minorities have made considerably less money than whites.  Affirmative action was invented to even out this discrepancy.  Many of the kids at BV who receive full rides because of their skin color have parents who benefited from affirmative action themselves and have, in many cases, equaled or outperformed their white counterparts educationally and financially.  The question here is how many successive generations should receive this kind of support?  The argument I'm trying to make is that a family who has already benefited from affirmative action once probably does not need to keep getting free college into eternity.  Income is a much better way to determine who has been handicapped and who has not, and there's no reason the son or daughter of a CEO should go to school for free simply because their ancestors came from a different place than mine.  In my mind, they should be eligible for academic scholarships like anyone else, but there is no need to level the playing field for them if it is already tilted in their favor.

Back on that diversity thing...

Heys Jr. is half Cuban (honest)...how much would that get him at other IIAC schools. Hint: Include food with plenty of meat.

(BTW he's 6'5" 245 now...and he's willing to repair roofs...doesn't need much of a ladder)

:D

I'd be willing to bet most every coach in the IIAC would be willing to find some aid money to throw your sons way.  Now would he be willing to leave the girlfriend back in Mt. Vernon???

Hmm, I wonder which team I think your son should transfer to...let's see...Dubuque is closer to your Chicago business trips, new stadium, program on the rise, most ethnically diverse campus in the conference, are currently putting on the roof on the new rec center, just happends to be playing a game next year in Socal!!!  Hmm, I wonder...I wonder  ;D

BV has a well established program that year in and year out beats UD ;D  Sorry Dog :-[.  They have nice recreation athletic facility, a nice pool, and a great lake side location.  So when the spring hits, your son can hit the beach after the work out.  So in reality he is gaining back one thing he lost by leaving SoCal!  They have been looking for a tight end to build their entire offense around, and he could be the main attraction.

Plus all the tshirts with the Beaver jokes, will be great novelty gifts for the family in SoCal.  BV has a diverse student body that he can interact with and share his experiences growing up.

If In and Out burger from Cali could locate a branch in Storm Lake you could not only probably talk Heys Jr into at least thinking about a transfer but you could really come up with some good t-shirt jokes  ;D

I'm just worried if Heys Jr checked into BV he would then notice all those NAIA schools out there and consider going that route  :D

BV does have Dubuque beat...but UD would at least say Heys Jr is 6'6 and 255 in their program...that might at least give him a look see at an Iowa pro day in a couple of years  ;)

Well UD might be the right spot for Heys Jr.  Look what you guys did with Bellus when you had him.  One and done might be the UD special :o

Except Heys Jr has 2 years left.  Belleus was a senior when he played at UD.

Actually I have a lot of love for BV.  My 1 year on the UD tennis team I went 2-12 with 1 of those 2 wins coming against BV  ::)

One of the most respected teachers at La Porte City is a BV alumnus and because of him probably 2-3 kids every year go to BV.  His son plays tennis there now!!!
