Son just called and he told his new boss he was coming.  He will be the wide receivers coach at the University of Redlands in California.

Congrats to Timmy.  Did the winter we've had in Iowa have any impact on his decision to head to California? ;D

Don't sweat it SK...Connell the Younger can still visit the snow whenever he wants during the Winter...it will be conveniently stored only 45 minutes away in the mountains just north of where he works.  They'll even make some for him if they run out during the Winter.

DF4k:  Has Tim ever spent a significant amount of time in SoCal?

The answer to that question is no.  He has been pretty much a midwestern guy.  The snow comment was one used by the coach as well.   ;D ;D  Great minds must think alike  :D

Congrats to your son getting on at Redlands!!!  Good program and a great location.  You should get together with Heys and tell him you can get his son aid at Central if Heys parents let your son come over for dinner and laundry on sunday nights   :D

On another note, because Grandview is close to Simpson and Central is the reason I wouldn't want them joining the IIAC.  We have Loras and Dubuque close to each other, Luther and Wartburg, Coe and Cornell, Central and Simpson...then we have BV all by themselves.  Grandview already is in the MCC for all sports but football and joined the Midwest league for football that already has St. Ambrose, William Penn and Iowa Wesleyan.  I say convince Waldorf they need to join D3 and the IIAC.  Then they can be paired up with BV plus we will have a school most everybody can beat up on!!!  That and BV has already played Waldorf every year since 2004!!!

Walston Hoover

Grand View won't be joining the IIAC any time in the near future. They are NAIA and plan to remain that way, offering their players a couple hundred bucks and saying its a football schollie.
At Wartburg we call it a grant.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Congrats to Tim, DF2004. What exciting news! :)

Now how is it going to work if Central and Redlands match up in the playoffs? It could easily happen....  ;D

Back on that diversity thing...

Heys Jr. is half Cuban (honest)...how much would that get him at other IIAC schools. Hint: Include food with plenty of meat.

(BTW he's 6'5" 245 now...and he's willing to repair roofs...doesn't need much of a ladder)

:D

I was advised that he is still a couple of Double Doubles shy of 245...   ;)

BTW, I am not shopping him...this was totally in fun...We'll all be proud to see him graduate from Cornell.

Knew your son and your family were happy with him in Mt. Vernon.  Would be fun to see fans of each school on here give you their selling points for their favorite school though!!!

What is Heys Jr's major???  Will he go into the hot tub business like his old man???  Does he plan to become the GA wide receivers coach at Redlands in 2 years after Mr. Connell leaves Redlands to become the new OC at the University of Iowa???

Let me add my congrats to the long list. Now that we don't have to play him anymore. I hope everything goes his way.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just kidding! I know he'll make you proud like he did at Central.

If In and Out burger from Cali could locate a branch in Storm Lake you could not only probably talk Heys Jr into at least thinking about a transfer but you could really come up with some good t-shirt jokes  ;D

If In and Out Burger came to Storm Lake I would be leaving Winona and heading back to Iowa....maybe I could start working on that IIAC Network.

Well I would hate to think that I would have to cheer against him.  I hope that I will not have to make that choice in the next two years.  You are correct though that it could happen.

As DF1 indicated he could still be a thorn in the side of the IIAC for the next couple of years.  He could still come back to haunt Wartburg toos! :D :D :D :D  With UD on Redlands schedule this year he could still haunt the Spartans and Doolittle! ;D ;D ;D ;D

You just keep finding ways to twist that knife in me...I must have wronged you in another life  ;D ;D ;D

His scouting of UD for Redlands should go something like...UD has the worst record in the conference this decade, they haven't beat my alma mater since 1987, they are the opposite in the IIAC that Redlands is to the SCIAC.  That would be a scouting report that wouldn't be a lie...just wouldn't be the whole truth!!!

You sound pretty convinced that he will return to the land of cornfields and icy roads after spending a couple of years in SoCal....

A guy could also add that UD has had some the premier athletes in the IIAC, but it just has not equaled out to "w's" yet.
