There were legal issues that made this a +100 day ordeal that stemmed from the coach being "reassigned". St. Cloud had to wait until those issues were shored up before they went ahead with hiring another coach.

And that right there is why it's better to get info from Walston than some stupid D2 message board!!!
Its nice to have connections.

WH, I think you are the most connected guy here!! Love it!

Congratulations to Kyle White.  Second Team All-American.  Does anyone know the last time taht anyone acheived this high of an honor from the IIAC?  Couldn't disagree with a player that deserves it more.  I would have liked to see Kuenstling get a little more recognition for an outstanding career at Coe.  (I guess three years of 1st team IIAC is enough.)

Just to get the ball rolling, any predictions on next year?

Nice job Kyle White.

I would have to disagree with Kuenstling deserving more recognition.  I thought Kilburg was a much better player, but neither ever made the little big dance.  Maybe someone from Buena Vista should have gotten more recognition.

Any thoughts?
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

If you check the D3football home page and click on "All Americans" under Awards (left hand column), then click on "All-time list, by school", you can check out all IIAC All Americans since 1999.

You guys know there's a separate basketball board, right?

I wondered what that conversation was about.  Thanks for clearing that up SK!

Walston,

You are in the know.  Why would Willis choose to go after a job so late.  I totally understand him going after UWW.  This job seems to be a building job and if the chatter has any truth to it sounds like Willis is better off staying put.  With as good of a coach as he is why would you go into a mess?

I'm sure he was being recruited. As people have mentioned, his resume speaks for itself. It's an honor to be up for a job at a higher level -- success will put a person in that position.

I think Willis and Wartburg should take it as the compliment that it is, and be glad he is staying put for the time being.

I haven't talked to Willis himself about it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was encouraged to apply by some people up north.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

The joke I heard is that whoever takes the St. Cloud job will still be the 2nd best coach in the county behind St. Johns Gagliardi!!!

I think Willis showed tremendous loyalty to Wartburg by stepping into the AD roll but when it comes right down to it he is most happy coaching football.  A D2 job would be a great job and if you have an ego at all I am sure you would think you could overcome any difficulties that the job at St. Cloud might present.  If a coach didn't want to step into a bad situation and think that he could make it better, Dubuque wouldn't have had a head coach for the last 18 years!!!

And sportsknight, what is this "basketball board" you speak of  ???

Next thing you will tell us is there is a seperate "pick-ems" board as well!!!

To help with offseason discussion- Let's do IIAC by the numbers. Using 1-99 if we do 1 number per weekday, that should get us through to mid-August.
Today's number is 1. Anything in the IIAC to do with the number 1.
People who have worn the number, streaks, stats, whatever you can think of. Be creative.
Brian McIntire was a great safety wearing #1. Also where the Wartburg wrestling team finished in the nation.
And-1 is 1 more than the amount of conference wins Cornell will have this year and is equal to the amount of conference wins Luther will have.

This is a good one Walston.  #1 Cam Waugh-made a great over the shoulder catch in the UD game to get the scoring started for the Dutch this year.  #1 Dutch having the longest regular season winning streak in the IIAC.  #1 Dutch finishing number 1 the last three seasons.

Does it count if it is a current IIAC team, but the player didn't play in the IIAC?
Carey Bender wore #1, and it is now retired at Coe
He had a pretty ok career

Hey, I'm using the number to predict number of wins, I don't know why you couldn't throw out Bender.

Another-
1 is the amount of times I lost to the Dutch in my 4 years.
