I had a HS coach that went to Westmar. I'm pretty sure the Goodchilds that are the good HS coaches are Westmar alums as well.

I grew up close to Westmar and looked at it as a college out of HS but ended up going out of state. Was a nice small college

Quiz:  Which IIAC member doesn't have a seven-letter spelling of either it's school name or team nickname?

Quiz:  Which three current IIAC schools have changed their team nickname in the last 30 years?
Luther C-o-l-l-e-g-e Norse  ???

I know that Simpson has gone with the nickname, Storm (fka Redmen).

Walston Hoover

Simpson from Redmen to Storm (Was there Red Storm in transition?)
Central from Dutchmen to Dutch
Luther from Norsemen to Norse?
Or possibly BV from something that had more innuendo, to Beavers.
Wartburg Football used to be Black Knights, but now just Knights.

Wasn't it the Flying Dutchmen?  I thought they had to change it from being named after a slave ship or something along those lines. (or perhaps I'm totally off and got the story twisted after watching one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies... :-\)

Also, not sure when it became official, but it used to be the Buena Vista BV'ers before switching to the Beavers.

I'm waiting on the answers to those trivia questions.
In the meantime, I believe we are on 9.
9-teams in the IIAC currently, and I say currently because we've seen how much it has changed over the years. Who knows what the next 30 years have in store.
9-and 1 and missed the playoffs in 2000 after leading the Dutch 10-0 at halftime. One of the first meaningful times I played Varsity football when our Center went down late third quarter. I wasn't enough for a comeback though.

9 - The number of losses over my junior and senior seasons

9 - The number of classes I needed to take my senior year to graduate

9 - The number of times BV beat UD between 1997 and 2005

9 - The number of times BV beat Simpson between 1976 and 1984

Actually, you're correct Show! You responded before I had the chance!

Good job, Show!  Central did change from the Flying Dutchmen to the Dutch.  The Flying Dutchmen was the name of a slave ship.  The words Flying Dutchmen are still in the school fight song and C U I is still in the choras of the school song.  Some things you just can't change.  Technically, I think Central is still legally Central University of Iowa, but is legally and officially d.b.a. Central College.

9 - The number of conference wins Dubuque had in the 1990's.  They went 9-75 in conference play that decade.  Good thing for the Spartans that William Penn was still in the IIAC at that time because they went 5-5 against the Statesmen in the 1990's!!!

Klompen

I can't think of anything really good for 9, so I have to settle for this...

9 - the number of collective near heart attacks of Central and Dubuque fans during last year's game by d3 posters for the schools involved!   ::)

That is very interesting information in regarding to Central name but how they are doing business.  When did the change take place, or was it always this way.  This sounds very similar to the naming structure of the company that I work for.  Yes believe it or not BV grads can be gainfully employed ;D

I am sure another topic polular to Iowan's this week will be the Masters.  Does anyone thing that Zach Johnson can repeate as champ or make the top 10?

I have been following him some this season, and its seems as though he is off to somewhat of a rocky start.  Either way, it is always a fun tournament to watch.

No repeat, and it would not surprise me too much if he missed cut.

I'm looking for some input from the Coe faithful. I heard from an impeccable source that one player has quit Coe because of the Staker hire. Are there any other players who have done the same?

That always happens maybe playing time was going to be reduced switching positions new coaches have new ideas. Simpson has lost some players since the new hire
