I can relate. when footballkid is home,we go from two gallons of milk a week to almost two a day. Makes the meal plan at school seem cheap!

And sign me up for some of that carne asada! El Rodeo in Des Moines makes great carne asada tacos.

Amen to that.  I grew up about 5 blocks from El Rodeo.  That place receiving a lot of my money through high school and when I came home during college.  Everytime I come back to DM that is no doubt that I stop in.

That was it!!! ::)  Only you forgot to say that he was the best quarterback to ever play at Central College and that he was conference MVP and that he was critical in pulling Central though a number of close games and...

Thanks for sending him our way DF04.  Without him the evil empire would have struck again. :-\  Phew, glad that didn't happen!  LOL

DF1 you have been around before me but don't forget Shad Flynn, Mark and Tim Vander Linden they were leaders ahead of Tim.  Mark Isaacson was in second place all time as well.  I think there have been many good QB's over the years for the Dutch.

Thanks for the kind words.  He does have most of the QB records.  The one thing that is hard to say is that he is the best.  I have not seen other Dutch QB's in the past and that was a different time and style of play.  If I say that it seems self serving and there is no purpose to that.  I believe he is the first QB for the Dutch to get the MVP award for the IIAC.  He was part of the team and without all those other players out there he would not have the success or stats he had.  That includes both sides of the ball.  There were defensive players and special team players that certainly helped the the Dutch success over the past three years.  I hope that the underclassmen fill the shoes of the graduates and the Dutch continue the winning ways.  I am looking forward to catching the games this fall.

This proves it -- I'm really old school. When I think Central QB, I think Marc Poortinga and Nathan Eighmy.... Tim will definitely be right up there with the legends, though. :)

So who gets the job this year?  Connell had it for three years and I don't think anyone else got too many snaps.
I would guess Zach Bandow.  He probably got as many snaps as Connell did before he got his chance.  I think it's great that Tim raised the bar for him.  It gives him something to strive for and that's always a good thing.

You are right I would say Bandow is the #1 going into spring drills.  Lackey is probably #2.  I think it will be a good race to see who replaces Tim.  Bandow got more pt than Tim did as a freshman.  Tim I believe played in the Cornell and BV games his freshman year.  Bandow played in 4 games I believe.  The key that will help Bandow and Lackey though is that they got 3 more weeks practice than Tim.  That should have helped the young players they also have spring ball that Tim did not have as well.  That should help the Dutch replace the holes in the lineup.

I can definitely see that.  I think most football players go thru a thing during their playing days where they drink milk like the stuff's going out of style.  But then when they get done playing, they hardly ever have it.  That's how it was for me anyway.

10...as in 10 pounds of Carne Asada purchased from Eddies Carniceria, BBQ'd, and consumed last Saturday for Heys Jr.'s Birthday Party.

Cornell now resumes the responsibility of feeding him and his roommate.

They eat like Coneheads...they consume mass quantities of any edible substance that we had to offer.  :o

When I went to store for more meat, the unit of measure was not in pounds, it was by the carcass.

They consumed a small farms' worth of livestock during their visit.  I estimate 15 chickens, 1/4 of a pig, 1/5 of a cow...   :D

One would think it's Yordi's job to lose, and he won't lose it in the off-season.

Am I the only one that thinks its a little creepy that 5 Words knows this fact?

The 11s from my time at Wartburg:
Jake Olsen - All conference quarterback that was #2 in a line of now 3, soon to be 4 Wartburg QBs that were 3 year starters (Wheeler, Olsen, Hoskins, Yordi).
Kyle Duchman - One of the most consistent WRs Wartburg's had in recent years.  Plus a 4 year starter.  All around good guy too.  AFCA Good Works team member and NCAA Post-grad scholar.

Haven't heard anything and I usually catch wind of something like that. I assume you are implying that Yordi is gone?
Not saying you're wrong, just saying I haven't heard anything.

DF2004, Mark Issacson, Shad Flynn and the Vander Lindens were all after my day..... great guys, though.
