Possibly. I think the 12th is Hitler's birthday. There's been some bad stuff happen then. Maybe where I lumped that in with the Titanic.

I thought The Titanic sank on April 12??

The RMS Titanic hit the iceberg on April 14 and sank on the 15th.

But the year was 1912, which might be where Walston's confusion came from.

16 - Number of states Dubuque has players from.

Since I will be in western Iowa tomorrow...

17 - Dubuque has players from 16 states...and 2 from American high schools in Germany...so that equals 17!!!

While I would like to see more Iowa kids on the Dubuque roster, I love the diversity Dubuque has by attracting kids from all over the country.  And I think it's great they are able to bring in some kids of U.S. military personel to play.  In a story I read these kids thought they would never get a chance to play beyond high school since they were so far away from home and loved it that Dubuque recruited them.  Brennan Relaford is a Spartan WR that gets playing time that came from a US high school in Germany.

Kac back in Iowa
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080415/SPORTS0804/80415053

That's interesting that they just named a new coach now.  Staton retired back in November, right around Thanksgiving, if I remember right.  A four month coaching search.  You don't see that everyday.

I can't say that I know all that much of Kac's style, but I can almost guarantee that he'll be quite a departure from Staton.

I think Kac will be an excellent fit at Pella Christian.  As to the time it took ro do the search, I think there could be a number of factors at play with that.  First, football is a new sport for Pella Christian and I doubt they have the same sense of urgency that a college would have.  Pella Christian does not need to worry about recruiting, so the rush is not there.  And unlike Central's RCA population, the Pella Christian population is much more connected to the Christian Reformed Church.  Since Kac was a coach there before, they know what they are getting.  It may have taken them that long to convince him to come or it may have taken that long to get approval for hiring a Catholic for the position.   :-\  And no, I have no idea about Staton's religious affiliation, but it would be a much more critical issue at Pella Christian than at Central.

Walston,

I knew that Wheeler was MVP for the Knights and played QB.  What did the other recent Knights play that were MVP's.  Mike Ward, Scott Fritz, Gary Walljasper, and Vince Penningroth goes back to about 1980.

Walljasper was a QB that held all the records before Wheeler came along and then Hoskins
Fritz was a TE
Penningroth was a DL and Ward was an RB.
