With only track and softball remaining to be determined, it appears the women's all-sport trophy is a two horse race between Wartburg and Luther.

On the men's side one would have to assume Wartburg is in a good position with baseball and track still to be awarding points, but points for golf and tennis also remain.  Who could catch Wartburg?  Is there an athletic dept. with strength in all four of these sports?

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

18 - I could be wrong, but I think this was the number back up QB Greg Thomas wore in 1988 when he found out he would be the starting QB for the season finale championship game against Simpson the morning of the game.  Steve Flynn, the starting QB had a hairline spinal injury and would be out for the rest of the season.  Central lost the game on a missed FG at the end, but Thomas played lights out the entire second half with a broken jaw.  Central made the playoffs in spite of the loss and made it to the Stagg Bowl on the arm of the TE turned QB, Lance Kooiker.  It was a wild and fun ride!

18 - Receptions for the Spartans Matt Plummer against BV in 1996.  Ranking 6th all-time in D-III for recepetions in a single game.  Alas, BV hung on to win on UD's homecoming 47-40 This was the 90's after all...Dubuque didn't win all that often that decade.

The brother of A-P hall of fame coach Ed Thomas is also a state championship coach at Humbolt now. I helped out at their camp the year they won it all.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

i agree with DF2004 -- You have to take what you can get.  Yes, he had some loyalty there, but there is no way anyone can say they would give up that much of a raise.

Look, if a jetted bath tub company came at me with a 5x raise, I'd be an idiot not to take it...even if I had to move to little Rhodey.

BTW, this message comes to you from Guangzhou, China.  Apparently they make hot tubs in the southern China peninsula.  Who knew?  It took 27 hours, door to door, to get here.

Oh yeah, I still can't wait til '08 IIAC football starts.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

If the general Chinese public decides they have to have hot tubs in their back yards...Purple Heys will have a job for a long long time!!!

And maybe enough coin to send his other kids to Cornell even if they do have schollie offers to D-I schools!!!

How long until Sept. 6th now???

Only if they employ him there.  The Chinese just steal the technology and produce it themselves so he would have to go there and work.   ;D ;D ;D

We had a little action in the Chicago this morning with a 5.2 level earth quake hitting 230 miles south of the windy city.

This thing was felt from Kansas to Ohio from what the news reports are saying.

I thought earth quakes only applied to PH in CA ;D

Obviously, it was too far for the quake to follow PH to China, so it decided to mess with the IIAC a little bit!
