Ok, a friend of mine from high school was on that team and I just wondered if you had any stories of him.

Ok, all I can come up with for 27 is...

27 - Letters to spell...University of Dubuque Spartans!!!  And it would be 26 if you go by a hat my parents bought me from the UD bookstore a few years back.  The hat had it spelled Universty...which I am pretty sure is not correct  ;D    I still have that hat, I wouldn't let them take it back!!!

I have a Billy Williams autographed baseball tucked away somewhere at my house.

My dad has an Ernie Banks and I have a Joe DiMaggio autographed baseball.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

If they are doing it on purpose, and the players have not signed a waiver, it is illegal.

I was checking my email tonight and saw that my son had received one from Cornell football. It seems that Coach Dillon has reviewed my son's highlight DVD, and feels he's just what the Rams are looking for at quarterback. He went on quite a bit about how his release, pocket presence and decision making were outstanding, and he had a bright future in Mount Vernon. I mention this because my son is finishing his first year at Wartburg, and is planning on attending the first spring practice tomorrow before leaving for Mexico for May Term. He last talked to Coach Dillon about 15 months ago. I'll make no judgements on this, but I wonder if anyone else has any comments?

Talked to my son last night and he said a coulpe of his buddies who are Wartburg football players also got emails from Cornell the other night. I know that there might be clerical errors in entering info into databases, but wouldn't they know that these players are already in college when they go to their high schools to talk to them? The other scenario is that Cornell is contacting 1st year players who may be unhappy and trying to get them to look at Cornell. Isn't that tampering? I don't know, I just think it's odd for one conference school to contact another team's players.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

If they are sending out 500 emails, and not to just selected players...it would be pretty hard to prove.  Especially when there are players getting the same kind of emails from other schools.

It's hard to believe that they do something so obvious on purpose if it's illegal.  Seems a little easy to prove if you were going to try and sway kids at another school to come to yours via email.

I did have a conversation with an old coach that has heard of this.  He said that back in the 80's there were a few D2 schools and NAIA schools that would contact D1 kids who had taken their reshirt and had no chance of seeing the field.

They would lure them to the school with scholorship offers that the ability to play right away.  I would say this is pretty illegal, but the way the world works, a lot of things are illegal that happen on a daily basis.

I've never met Coach Dillon and don't know much about is character, but I highly doubt this was a deliberate act. This sounds like the case of "bad record-keeping." I would fire my recruiting coordinator if this happened to me. Maybe that's why Cornell has such low numbers, they've been recruiting freshman in college.  ;)

footballdaddy

That's what I mean that it's unusual. High school football has been over for six months now. I would think that if Cornell thought they were still in high school, they would have been told by their high school coahes that these players have graduated.  I find it hard to belive that Coach Dillon would try something so obvious knowing that it was illegal. I can only speak for my son, but he has not signed a waiver, and he's looking forward to three more years of football at Wartburg.

I have a Brooks Robinson signed pennant. Does that count?

Got a Bert Blyleven signed baseball somewhere...and I even think I have a Rick Coleman autographed football somewhere.

I was at the CrossRhodes bar in Rhodes last week and it is home to Troy Davis' runner-up Heisman Trophy. I got to hold it.

I do not know if there is anything illegal or not going on.  It does sound however there could be a breach of ethics at least.  Not saying that Dillon is unethical at all.  It could be a mistake but it doesn't sound right to me.

I don't believe that Coach Dillon would knowingly break any rules.

My great great great grandfather shook the hand of Abraham Lincoln.
He shook the hand of my great great grandfather, who shook the hand of my great grandfather, who shook the hand of my grandfather, who shook the hand of my father, who has shaken my hand.

Now by the equation of A=B and B=C and A=C, does that mean that I have shaken the hand of Abraham Lincoln?

On a side note I have an Iowa Hawkeyes hat from Sam's Club with Casey Blake's signature on it from a baseball camp.  Is that worth anything?
