27 - How old Alfred E. Neumann wishes he was turning today

Happy Birthday!

27  - Half of the number of holes of golf I played today to celebrate.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

OK, I like to golf, but 18 is about my limit. I'll find out tomorrow at the Wartburg golf outing across the street from my house. Hopefully the rain is over by noon.

Checking my email today I received one from Coach Dillon saying that he sent out emails in error. He said he meant to send it to one specific person but it went to all his email list. I can understand that. It was funny that the body of the letter had my son's name and high school position right. I don't know if the other guy's emails had the right names or positions, but I would think they would have told my son if they were wrong. I'll let everyone draw their own conclusions.

I was at the CrossRhodes bar in Rhodes last week and it is home to Troy Davis' runner-up Heisman Trophy. I got to hold it.

Don't think I knew that they gave out runner-up trophies for the Heisman.  For my part, I've seen three Heismans in person:  Jay Berwanger's (the first ever awarded), which is on display at Dubuque Senior High School, Paul Hornung's on the Lambeau Field tour, and Troy Smith's at the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend.

And to continue the baseball memrobilia conversation, I have a Ryne Sandberg autographed baseball and Cubs mini-batting helmet signed by Ernie Banks and Fergie Jenkins.

I just thought of another one for today.

27 - Years since Dubuque last won the IIAC and made the D-III playoffs...hopefully a streak that will end with this next football season!!!

You could make it four if you go see Nile Kinnicks at Iowa.

I met him briefly on a recruiting visit. That  dude was built like a brick $hit  house.  I  couldn't understand a word he said, but I'll cut him some slack due to whatever disability he had.  That and he averaged about 40 carries per game playing in the Big 12.

I wish President Ohle the best up north in Minnesota.  Great guy and huge sports nut.  My only wish is that he would have started in 88' so I could have enjoyed all the new toys on campus.

I know.  As many times as I've been to Iowa City, I can't believe I haven't checked out their HOF yet.  Maybe this weekend, if the bachelor party I'm attending doesn't get too out of hand (although I'm hoping it does).

Going to Iowa State is officially considered a disability now?  Bout time.

WH - Good luck and have fun.

I did play the new course in P'burg yesterday. It will be a nice course once it matures. It looks like the little creek did a lot of damage last week.

I have not been out there to try it out yet. Is that where you got all your golf in, or did you spread the love?

There are free lots available on the Aplington golf course!!!  Maybe WH needs to move home...that's got to be better than hanging out in Rhodes...now that place is ghetto  :o  Unless you are talking about hanging out at the Harvester Golf Course which I don't think you were  ;D
