+k to everyone who got DF2004's karma above the Mendoza line

That's hard to do with him hanging out so much on the Minny board  ;D

Mr. Ypsi

Ok I've been reading post for a while, but I am new to posting!!!!
Maybe you have done this already, but I have a question
What are you predictions for IIAC finals standings? MVP? Sleeper? Overhyped?

Pretty much all this has been discussed except for MVP in the last 2-3 weeks. Give it another week and we can talk about it again, Come Mid July, it can be brought up every week  ;)
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Welcome to the board Ram2...are you related to Ram1???  ;D

Finals standings predictions get brought up every 4-6 weeks or so during the off-season...but I don't think MVP or sleeper or overhyped have come up yet.  Good idea from you!!!

I have no idea about MVP other than you will get a lot of votes from Wartburg and Central posters because they have the most posters!!!  I'll throw one out there...Alex Macey...the guys a beast but the Ram offense doesn't seem to like to throw the ball!!!

My guess for sleeper and overhyped is you will get a lot of people saying Dubuque for both of those!!!

Again, welcome to the board, get as many people as you can joining the board.  Always nice to have more IIAC fans on here.

+k for you Ram2 and Welcome to the boardIf you go back a few pages and read I think most of the posters have covered the preseason pics.  We have not talked about the MVP for this year yet.  For me I have no idea who has the inside track.  There were many graduating seniors this year so IMHO the field is wide open and there may be a new comer or two.  These can be good topics for future discussion though.

UD overhyped never  ;D ;D ;D ;D and the sleeper image for UD is gone for the forseeable
future.  IMHO there is a wide open race so until the IIAC season starts I don't know if there is a team that is overhyped.  We can sort that out about week 4 or 5.

DF2K4 +k to try and get you on the right side.

Ram2 +k as well for joining the board.  Doolittle is right, the more IIAC people on here the better.  Adds to the conversation!

Spirit Hollow in Burlington is a fun golf couse to play...it has all the bell's and whistle's and the price is not that bad.   I know it is not in Iowa but the TPC @ Deere Run (where they play the John Deere Classic) in the Quad Cities is amazing.   It does not cost as much as you think it might, especially if you play at non-peak times during the week, etc..

Has anyone played the golf course at Riverside Casino yet???  Is it worth the money?

Some nice news from Casa de Heys...

Daughter Heys will be signing an NLI with Long Beach State for Track and Field.  Their High Jump coach is a former Olympic and Pan Am Games HJ coach

She's currently the #1 High Jumping 12th grader in CA @ 5'8.25"  (She's #4 overall, current CA best is 5'10")

We are all very proud.

My 1st look analysis...subject to further review.

1. Wartburg
2. Central
3. Coe
4. DBQ
5. Simpson
6. BV
7. Cornell
8. Luther
9. Loras

I am concerned with grad losses of Jackson and Mashburn at the DBQ...tough to replace that much productivity and leadership on each side of the ball.  I give the Coe the nod at this point soley on the strength of their Defense  The loss of Tekippe and a new coach and DBQ's ability to replace Jackson may have me flip this around.

Last year I thought the Rams should have beaten both Loras and Luther.  With a more experienced and much more athletic QB in Bush, plus the complete backfield return and the hoped for emergence of Heys Jr. as a significant offensive weapon lead me to think good things can happen this year.  Still the O-Line scares me and we gotta replace Gus.  But I think the Serbian Sackmeister (Z. Zasada) will be a factor and an improved overall team defensive unit will help.  Depth...ah...well that's always an issue.

BV and Simpson are unknown quantities to me for the moment, but they work us every year, so I gotta give some respect to them.

Wartburg and Central are left to who is hurt the leaset by the graduation of very good players.  Wartburg has less turnover and a complete defense back.  Central's bend but never break defense doesn't have Tim Connell and Vance Schuring to turn to.

Wartburg looks to have the squad to beat...as long as they don't beat themselves; which Central rarely does.

Congratulations!  From watching the video, it looks like she will be clearing 5' 10" sooner rather than later.  My youngest brother graduated from Long Beach State and always says its great to be a 49er.

Keep us posted on her progress.

Long Beach State? Doesen't she know there are roofing jobs in Waverly? She won't even need a ladder!  ;D

Just kidding! I know how proud I would be if it was my daughter. I wish her the best and hope to see her win some NCAA and USA gold!

Two teams I think could surprise next season.

Simpson - Two ways.  Simpson has gone 3-5 for 3 straight seasons now.  Most people seem to think things will soon turn for the better in Indianola with the hiring of a new coach but think it might be a season or 2 away from much of a change either way.  Simpson by most accounts has a lot of talent to go along with what appears to be a good recruiting class by the new coach.  If the players buy into what the new coach is preaching and things bounce their way they could go from a team that has gone 3-5 in conference play each of the last 3 seasons to a team that goes 6-2 in conference.  Or...new coach comes in and the players immediately don't like how he is running things, they lose an early season game they shouldn't and the wheels fall off and they don't win 3 games.  I could see either scenario.  Or I could see them finishing around .500 and be a team of the near future.

Cornell - Most people seem to be taking an "I'll believe it when I see it" approach to Cornell and don't expect more that 1 conference win out of the Rams.  A team small in numbers and recently learned a new system.  But though they lack recent wins in the conference this is a team that lacks depth but does have a lot of experianced starters.  If teams like Loras, Luther, Simpson, and BV have a down year or don't show up to play against Cornell you might see the wins start to show up in the Rams favor.  A bounce here or there going the right way for Cornell and you could see a team that goes from 0-8 to 4-4...you never know.

Those are two teams that COULD surprise next year in my opinion.

MVP - whoever is considered the best player on the team that finishes in first  ;D

COY - The coach of the first place team OR Osterburger if he can get Loras to go 6-4  ;D
