Congrats!!!

Now your daughter can tease Hey's Jr with "mom and dad like me better cause I got a schollie!!!"   ;D

And, you know, it's not quite the trip to go see her in Long Beach that it is to see the son in Iowa!!!  ;D

Two teams I think could surprise next season.

Simpson - Two ways.  Simpson has gone 3-5 for 3 straight seasons now.  Most people seem to think things will soon turn for the better in Indianola with the hiring of a new coach but think it might be a season or 2 away from much of a change either way.  Simpson by most accounts has a lot of talent to go along with what appears to be a good recruiting class by the new coach.  If the players buy into what the new coach is preaching and things bounce their way they could go from a team that has gone 3-5 in conference play each of the last 3 seasons to a team that goes 6-2 in conference.  Or...new coach comes in and the players immediately don't like how he is running things, they lose an early season game they shouldn't and the wheels fall off and they don't win 3 games.  I could see either scenario.  Or I could see them finishing around .500 and be a team of the near future.

Cornell - Most people seem to be taking an "I'll believe it when I see it" approach to Cornell and don't expect more that 1 conference win out of the Rams.  A team small in numbers and recently learned a new system.  But though they lack recent wins in the conference this is a team that lacks depth but does have a lot of experianced starters.  If teams like Loras, Luther, Simpson, and BV have a down year or don't show up to play against Cornell you might see the wins start to show up in the Rams favor.  A bounce here or there going the right way for Cornell and you could see a team that goes from 0-8 to 4-4...you never know.

Those are two teams that COULD surprise next year in my opinion.

MVP - whoever is considered the best player on the team that finishes in first  ;D

COY - The coach of the first place team OR Osterburger if he can get Loras to go 6-4  ;D

And to think I gave you karma today dog.  I will have to sharpen my smiting skills in the morning ;D  Just kidding.

I think its pretty fair to say that was a strange year that Osty won the COY.  All things considered he did have the squad within a game the champsionship on the final day of the season.

I will not elaborte any further on that, as I know many people can make the case for Raeburn that season, and I respect that.

She was also recruited by USC...I don't know if you know anything about the immediate neighborhood there.  Let's just say it's "challenged".

I was at the UD/Cornell game this past season where UD scored 34 points in the 1st quarter...not quite up to Central standards...but that was kinda fun to watch.  Not so much for Purple Heys on the other sideline that day though!!!

BTW, that was brutal.

I kept saying to my wife:  The horror...the horror.

For a moment there, I believed that we were going to get 100 points dropped on us that day.    :-[

PH-If there's one sport that Iowa can consider itself Nationally know at the HS level, its girls track. At the state meet last week, there were several national bests and many more top 10 times/heights/distances.
There was a super-soph from an old rival HS of mine that won the small school high jump with a jump of 5'10 and a quarter.
The middle-to-long distances in Iowa Girls' track is outstanding, and I can't figure out why. Farmer's daughters are used to running to their country schools I suppose.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Very impressive.  Maybe we can see Walston Hoover do this after his summer of running.

Maybe that's why the house they bought Reggie Bush was so far off campus. :o

College-wise, no doubt. Probably still has girls track by a little in the HS area.

Can not Iowa be known for both?  You didn't say that girl's track was more known.  I think Iowa can be known for more than just one thing.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  That way it is PC too.  The girls are known for one thing and the boys another.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  See you guys make Wartburg proud how you two together combine to cover a subject.
