From looking at the UD webcam it looks like they are getting close to putting the new turf down.

The crew made real progress from the webcam shots which were on this morning.  I'm looking forward to seeing that first little bit of green.

I should tell my wife to take a look at this thread.  After meeting my Dubuque friends she told me that NONE of our children would be allowed to go there.  That place was too much of a party school in her opinion.  I have tried to tell her that EVERY school is like that.  The problem is she went to Northwestern College and I hear that place is just a bit more conservative that our IIAC schools.

To paraphrase what Purple Heys has said.  I would be horrified to find out my children were behaving the same way as I did in College.  My grandmother had a saying...do as I say, not as I do!!!

Warthog, you are probably correct.  It's been about 2 decades since I have heard much about her name.  I did get that her home town started with an M  ;D ;D ;D  That should get me a few bonus points!!!

How many days until Sept. 6th???

Oh please -- Central is about as close to Northwestern's conservatism, and we had more than our fair share of shenanigans.  ;) College kids will be college kids. I think we should be rewarding these kids creativity, rather than punishing their antics. :)

I did not realize that Central regulated the hours when males and females could be in each others dorm rooms.  I did not realize that it was against their rules to have boyfriend and girlfriend spend the night in one of the others rooms.  I also did not realize that Central had manditory chapel sessions during the week.  Good thing I went to trashy old BV or else I would not have made the cut :o

Thankfully those customs died with the disco era in the '70's. I don't think I would have made it there myself under those conditions. NW is way more uptight that Central if they are still adhering to those rules these days. Goodness, just refer to Northwestern as "Bethel South."

"Bethel South" was the joke at BV.  I had a friend who enjoyed to partake in risky business and went to NWestern to play Bball.  Lets just saw a few missed chapel session and he did not make the cut.

They did not care that he could make it rain from the half court line, his services were no longer needed.

i'm pretty sure Loras had the rules about being in all male dorms or all female dorms past a certain hour still in 2003/2004 (the last time i was in a dorm at Loras).

I faintly remember RA's saying something at the first meeting of the year about females being on our floor or in our rooms after certain hours of the night.  I looked it up in the current Wartburg Student Handbook.

"Visitation hours in the residence halls are
9 a.m.-1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-
2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Members of the opposite
sex may be on a floor and in student rooms only during
these hours. Main lounges in the residence halls are not
subject to these hours. Floors/houses may choose to
restrict hours further (see Guest Policy)."

Pretty sure that was never enforced.  As an upperclassman, I remember plenty of nights after Joe's Knighthawk making my way back to the manors and "cutting-through" Clinton Hall 2 & 3.

Northwestern also requires "a shoe in the door and a foot on the floor" when members of the opposite sex are visiting each other's dorm rooms, meaning that the door has to be propped open and you can't be seated in a position where your feet are off the floor.  Apparently they've never read the Kama Sutra.  They also have no cable TV in dorm rooms, and there are people who monitor the internet traffic of all computers on campus to make sure that no one is visiting adult sites.  Chapel is required 3 times per week, but you can cut it down to 2 if you go to an extra long session.  It's so hard to find a decent bar in that area that the bar in my hometown used to send a bus to their campus (25+ miles away) to pick up kids for college night a couple times a month.  That was stopped by the administration before too long, however.

AKA "Dorm Storming"

AKA "Slump busting?" ;)

I remember Sleeze buying burritos at Dyno's and heading dorm cruising after the bar in hopes of luring a lady with a hearty appetite back to his room for after hours.  It was probably the best tactic I've ever seen used in slump busting.

Holy hell, I would have lost my mind out there.  Pretty far cry from my college experience, where a group of us would flip on our "premium" cable channels after 11:00 and place bets on how long it would take to see nudity.

As of 8:22 p.m. EST, there have been 42 messages on the IIAC board for May 21 ... and most have been about weird names and dorm life through the ages.

Hey, its the offseason.  What the hell else are we supposed to talk about?  The UEFA Champions League championship?  That's clearly the wrong kind of football.
