I noticed the IIAC website lists champion and coy going back a nice even 40 years.  So I thought I would list conference titles going back the last 40 years.  We'll call that the modern era since 1968 was also the year I was born  ;D

Central - 21 titles
Warturg - 8 titles
Simpson - 5 titles
Buena Vista - 3 titles
Coe - 3 titles
Dubuque - 3 titles
Luther - 3 titles
Upper Iowa, Loras and Cornell...goose egg!!!

You forgot Billy Penn has three as well.

was coe part of the iowa conference way back?  the athletic website has them listed as having 6 IIAC titles, but i can only think of 3 (02,04,05)

They are not listed on the IIAC site as having won and it goes all the way back to 1923

How long have you been working at SA?
Were you there last fall?
I had a player come in one afternoon and said they met someone who knew me at SA and couldn't remember the name but it started with "J". If that was you, it all makes perfect sense now.

A little over a year now -- it was probably me, unless they said flattering things, of course.  ;D

I abuse my discount for my friends, so if you need anything from there, let me know!

Maybe you should post your work schedules and arrange a secret code word so all of us can abuse your discount!  ;D

Do other schools in the IIAC have a strength and conditioning coach for their programs?
Yes, several high schools in the metro area do now as well.

Cornell has one.  PH Jr. is walking proof of the effectivness of his techniques.

Do many schools have guys stay around in the summer? I know as of 5 years ago, there were VERY few of us that did. Personally, I just worked out at my HS weight room all summer. The OL did get together and have a mini camp with no coaches during the summer and had the new guys come in so we could teach them some things before camp started. Spent 2 days doing it, but the second day was spent mostly recovering from the night before.

PH Jr. is going back to stay in Mt. Vernon for most of the Summer (after coming home to attend sister's HS Graduation).

The "6 IIAC Titles" has an asterisk by it, but there's nothing on the page that says what the asterisk means. Was there another group of schools known as the Iowa Conference before Coe joined the MWC or something like that?

I was only going back 40 years.

From reading a book on the IIAC covering the years 1922-1961 it mentioned there was a previous Iowa Conference that had been a weak association of schools that broke up the previous year because Coe and Cornell had started up the Midwest Conference.  That is where Coe is getting their 6 Iowa Conference titles thing.  Dubuque doesn't note on their website winning titles but they do mention in their media guide showing year by year results previous Iowa Conference and Ellsworth Conference titles.  I think Dubuque won 2 or 3 Iowa Conference titles and 1 Ellsworth conference title before the modern Iowa Conference was started.  I haven't been able to find any info on the previous Iowa Conference or the Ellsworth Conference.  That book on the IIAC also mentions that some schools belonged to more than 1 conference at the same time back in the early days.  It mentioned that BV one year had won the Dakota-Iowa Conference title but not the Iowa Conference title.

Fixed it.  I think I deleted billy penn when I added that Upper Iowa, Loras, and Cornell didnt have any.  It should be noted that Loras did win a north division title or 2 in the late 40's - early 50's but lost the title game to I believe St. Ambrose.  I don't have my book near me to look it up.

I agree, too bad I'm not the one making it.
That and the decision to drive an hour away to spend 2 hours watching 80 strangers walk across a stage to collect a piece of paper and one niece of my wife's that I barely know. That's not my decision either.
