Purple Heys ... any high jump reports?

Update on Senorita Heys...

As last reported she had signed with Long Beach State.

She won the CIF-SDS Championship at 5'7" on the afternoon of the Prom!  CIF-SDS = California Interscholastic Federation - San Diego Section.

She went to the State prelims ranked #3 but alas she tweaked her back (  :-\ ) when she slipped on a jump and did not qualify for the final...finishing 11th in the state...5'11" won it...5'9" tied you for 2nd

Her best this year was 5'8.25" which was good enough for 5th in CA.  All in all a great year for her.  As I told her and any of the kids I ever coach.  Winning a championship at any level is a rare thing (unless you go to Central or Wartburg  ;) )

So many things have to go right to do it when only one thing can go wrong to stop you...so enjoy it when you can and keep competing for more.

She graduates with 10 Varsity letters...she had a great HS career.  We are looking ahead to college.

Heys Rev.3 has a lot to live up to...

Congrats ... proud father!

I think the idea is that we are getting it all out of the way now, so that the fall will be beautiful, sunny days for football and come December, Central will still be playing in sunshine.   ::)

On a lighter note, it seems that Dowling Catholic is the home of Iowa best soccer hooligans after the athletic union witheld the trophy because the fans were on the field after the state championship game.
No argument from me here. That team almost had to end their season several weeks ago because of the amount of red cards they got. Nothing I heard from the state tourney surprised me.

Does anybody have a miracle cure for getting skunk spray out of their dog that thought it would be a good idea to try to fight a skunk???

Yes, My parents mix it up and sell it at their animal hospital.
it involves hydrogen peroxide and tomato juice but the exact ratios escape me.

My farming cousins always used a TOMATO juice bath for their dogs when their dog  got sprayed by a skunk.

Here is the secret recipe that WORKS. Mix the following:

    * 1 quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
    * 1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
    * 1 teaspoon liquid soap or dish detergent
    * Mix these together and bathe ("shampoo" in or rub down) the spray victim thoroughly.
    * Be sure to use this mixture immediately after it is created, as it is unstable.
    * Rinse with tap water afterward, and repeat if necessary.
    * For spray in the eyes, flush with water as soon as possible.

Yep, the tomato juice bath is what my grandmother always used.  And that is probably what I will have to do pretty quick.  I think the skunk spray actually hit our dog because this is the worst I have ever smelled.  The next time I have an inspection near the A-P area I think I will stop in at Walstons parents clinic and pick me up some of their recipe!!!

Thanks AEN and Walston!!!

In A gallon jug-

1/4 C baking soda
1 Pint Hydrogen Peroxide
2 teaspoons liquid dish soap
Fill rest of way with warm water
Get dog wet first then pour that over dog, and rub in. Don't let mixture get in eyes. Let sit for a few minutes and rinse out and should be good to go.

I should have read the earlier post from AEN-
Mom said this mixture works a lot better than tomato juice and smells better when its done.

WOW!  That is all I can say after seeing that video.

I am like some of you...when I was a kid and heard the sirens my dad and I would go outside and look to see if we can spot a funnel cloud or even a tornado.  I still would like to see one in person, but with lives being lost I think it's a great reminder to actually go to a basement and stay safe.
