Were any IIAC players involved in this? Sounds scary.

Good question.  They don't list their roster on their website.

I too went searching on their website.  Looks like M.I.N.K. League is a lot like the Northwoods Leagues like the Waterloo Bucks are in.  Probably more D1 and D2 players on their roster.  Doesn't look like quite as good as the NWL so their is a chance a D3 player may make it on there, especially a Wartburg guy or maybe Luther.

FYI - I know probably everyone's school, church +/or community is doing something for tornado sufferers.
Here is the web-site Wartburg has just put up.

You're probably right.  And just an FYI, I saw the Bucks play on Saturday and the Loggers shouldn't have much trouble with them this year.  Green Bay had put 3 runs across in the top of the first before the Bucks had recorded the first out.

I saw opening day for Loggers in Madison on Thursday, despite lots of rain and even a rain delay to put down the drying stuff on the mound.  Loggers had more hits, but lost 11-4 because they kept walking Madison runs in.  Next was the home opening in La Crosse on Friday.  Again, rain delay because of a downpour right about start time.  Pushed start back 30 min. then a 12 inning game lasted until 11:30pm, but it was Iowa IF Justin Toole hitting in the game winning RBI for the Loggers.  Lack of money kept me from traveling to Rochester for the Loggers at Honkers, though I wish I had since Cory Vaugh (Greg Vaugh's kid) hit his first homer of the year.  Should be an exciting summer of NWL baseball.  Hope to make it to Waterloo for a game.

ANOTHER TORNADO VIDEO - from the ATM @ the bank.

AMAZIN'

Looking at that video it looks like you should consider yourself fortunate to even be able to survive from being in the basement.

When I played again Clarinda (that was before water was discover) most of the players were D1 players from Az and Cal.and some guys that played Pro ball, that for some reason didn't make it in the big league.  Let me tell you they were very good.

When will the rain stop in Iowa ???????

Hope this is not the way the fall goes or it will be a lot of rainy saturdays..

I somehow squeezed in time to pour a patio yesterday (after re-scheduling for about two weeks due to rain) and have sod scheduled to arrive early next week.

If my luck continues the way its been going lately, after my sod is laid, we should have no rain for about 8 weeks... :(

Made the trek to Storm Lake for a wedding this past weekend.  Pretty shocked at how much flooding there was in the fields.  I ran 141 west to 4 and was blown away due to the amount tf standing water/water that was flowing rapidly.  Best of luck to anyone in low lying land or who is trying to farm.

Purple Heys ... any high jump reports?

Update on Senorita Heys...

As last reported she had signed with Long Beach State.

She won the CIF-SDS Championship at 5'7" on the afternoon of the Prom!  CIF-SDS = California Interscholastic Federation - San Diego Section.

She went to the State prelims ranked #3 but alas she tweaked her back (  :-\ ) when she slipped on a jump and did not qualify for the final...finishing 11th in the state...5'11" won it...5'9" tied you for 2nd

Her best this year was 5'8.25" which was good enough for 5th in CA.  All in all a great year for her.  As I told her and any of the kids I ever coach.  Winning a championship at any level is a rare thing (unless you go to Central or Wartburg  ;) )

So many things have to go right to do it when only one thing can go wrong to stop you...so enjoy it when you can and keep competing for more.

She graduates with 10 Varsity letters...she had a great HS career.  We are looking ahead to college.

Heys Rev.3 has a lot to live up to...

Congrats ... proud father!

Congrats to you and your Family( Hey Luther has a few of those championships now!! ;D)

All this tornado talk is making me all the more confident in my decision to rent a 3rd floor apartment with some rather large windows.   ::)  Next time a system comes through CF, thousands of people in this city will be huddled together with their families in their basements while I sit in my bathtub hoping that I don't go flying through the air at any moment.

Or you can go to the basement and hope the building does not fall on you ;D ;D ;D ;D

Your karma's up into double digits on the plus side.  How'd you ever manage that?

SK,

It is due to all the nice IIAC people I am sure.  It has been as high as 25 and then it dipped down in negative numbers for awhile.  Not to concerned with it as it will be what it will be.  Since I can not give it to myself I can not control it.  Just having good IIAC people to post with is all that matters.  When all is said and done I think we on here are proud of even Cornell (that was for you PH).  The IIAC is made up of very good schools and we may root for our teams but I think we all respect each other here.  Having two IIAC schools to root for is kind of fun.  It is hard when the sons two sports play each other but I root for the Knights tennis team over the Dutch and the Dutch football team over the Knights.  Then hope they tie for the all sports trophy at the end of the year.  I don't know how to be more fair.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  Hope all the IIAC posters are well.
