With all the references to Ireland and England, let's not forget about Wales and its stuggle for independence.  Cymru'n un!

And let's not forget about the starving pygmies in New Guinea either

You left yourself open to a cheap shot there ... but I'll pass.

Maybe I should have placed a smiley face next to my comment.  It was not the intention to offend.  With all the talk about the Irish blight and diversity, things were getting a bit deep on here.  I figured a little "Larry the Cable Guy" humor might loosen the mood ;)

No offense taken.  I was trying to do the same thing.

USA Rankings were out and Central was put in at 14 and Wartburg at 17.  No surpirse as MUC was #1.

USA Today Sports Weekly. (Hey, they paid me to write it, I might as well make sure the publication gets credited.)

I went to the Chicago Fire MLS game last night.  The game ended in a 0-0 tie.  The most action happened in the parking lot when we we witnessed a great fist fight between multiple people.  Soccer hooligans at their finest.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

That's nil-nil to you, Klop.

But he went to a 'game' - nil-nil would be the score of a match on a pitch! :D

I dont know what you call it.  All I know is that Mrs. Klop is the soccer fan in the family.  She played at BV was the driving force to going to the game last night.  She sat clued me in on what was happening.

It was actually a really family friendly atmosphere.  It was cheap entertainment considering the price of a ticket, hot dog, and beer.

My wife gets me the MLS direct kick package every year.  I watched that game last night.  MLS, for the price of everything from parking, to concessions, to the ticket price is a pretty good deal.

Klop, try standing and singing in Section 8 next time!!!  Then when you two have a bunch of kids you can start sitting in the family areas of the stadium again!!!

footballdaddy

No wonder there are hooligans and brawls in "football". After three hours of "action" and no score, I'd be a little cranky too!

Except for the fact that you're watching soccer.  I don't care how cheap it is.

People always try to talk up the MLS to me and usually use the fact that the players are professionals to try to sway me.  Doesn't matter.  I'd rather watch the most poorly played junior high football game than an expertly played 0-0 tie.  I can think of a lot better ways to waste 90 minutes.

As of last night at 10:30pm I would have agreed with that statement.  But after taking an open mind to the game, it was pretty fun.  There is something to be said for watching competition.  I love competion and could watch two people arm wrestle if something was on the line.  I have found myself watching the Olympic trails on TV.  Track and field is boreing as all get out to watch, but when there is something on the line I can not get a enough of it.

Doolittle, section 8 was nuts.  I could not beleive they chanted the entire game.  There were more Mexican wrestler masks than on Halloween.  It was quite a site.  I am not realy to recind my loyalty to football and become a soccer hooligan, but for price it costs, it's a great Saturday night.  After spending so many Saturday nights drunk in a smokey bar, this is a nice change of pace.  BTW:  the family section is quite a few years away if I have anything to say about it ;D

I have been preaching about this.  You don't have to choose one or the other...you can be a fan of both!!!

That said...I believe we are now UNDER 70 days until Sept. 6th and the kickoff of IIAC football!!!  My wife and I will be in the stands of the new Moco Mercer stadium on the campus of UD for the 7pm kickoff that night!!!
