By my count the Knights will have 27 seniors back.

I don't know if it was the answer or not for replacing lewis but I did see that former player Dan Hammes was hired to coach running backs this season.

Ash Park where did you see that Dan Hammes is going to coach the running backs this season ?

It was on footballscoop.com ..below is the link it was posted Tuesday July 1st. Wartburg College: Former Wartburg running back, Dan Hammes, hired to coach the running backs.

Within that same post it looks like Wartburg will be hiring another new coach in the near future.  Pat Toohey has been hired as the O-Line coach at Randolph Macon.

That news is several months old. SNead's talent is as a SS or OLB, not a QB, but if the opportunity to play QB is what got him to Central, more power to him.
We'll find out if that is indeed the winner of the transfer sweepstakes. An unproven QB from Drake is the equivalent of an unproven QB from any IIAC school regardless of HS accolades. I think Simpson has brought in some D1 dropouts as well. I think Unkrich is one as a matter of fact and that hasn't worked out so hot for them yet.

There's still plenty of time. The Suckow saga didn't happen until the last week of July.

That is why I suggested the week before the season starts to have the final preseason picks in.  The EVIL EMPIRE may try to get some more converts before fall practice starts.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  We want it all fair don't we and want to wait for all contingent transfers to get settled.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

If I am not mistaken, Central will be the big winner in the transfer sweapstakes this offseason.  My sources tell the QB from SEP and Drake is coming to Pella.  Looks like he will be the starter as well.

Great for Pat.  How long was he at Fartburg as an actual coach?  or was he still the G.A?  I know he was the G.A at Whitewater a couple years back.

You are right a star in high school does not mean star in college. Also wasn't that team at Polk really loaded back then Hoover ??? :-\ :-\

That was probably the best team that SEP ever put on the field. They lost in the championship to an absolutely stacked CR Xavier team.
Catholic schools must have been their downfall as they couldn't get by us either that year.

NewStorm-
I'll be spending next week working the Jim Williams OL camp. Clint Head and his brother will be there as well as Storm Center Ryan Laffey, and ex-DL Josh Luhlmann.
Add Dusty Kain to the mix as our recievers coach this year and that is waaaaaaayyyyyy to much red influence.

Who knows it may rub off and you'll be a changed man. Speaking of a great man Jim Williams one of my all time favorite coaches there is a man who can coach . He brought toughness back to Dowling  8) 8) 8)

If memory serves me right Toohey was a student coach for the 2004 season with graduation in 2005, then off to UWW for the fall 2005 football season.  He was back at Wartburg for the 2006 & 2007 seasons and is now off to a new job for 2008.  Does that sound right to anyone else?  Wart Trainer might remember for sure....SK you may recall as well.

Either way, good luck to Pat.  Another great guy to play along side and work with on the field.

Yeah, you got it right.  Good for Toohey...he's getting hitched sometime this year and I'm sure this new job will be a nice step up for him.  Plus its always nice to see an Irishman move up in the world.

I have to assume a certain measure of Pat's success comes from the fact that he sat next to me in "Coaching Theory of Football" class back in the fall of '03.   ;D

He's getting hitched the weekend after Christmas. Got my "save the date" card the other day.
His brother-in-law will be former All-AMerican return man Ryan Rausch so I'm pretty sure any children will be interested in football.
Toohey is horrible at canoeing though.

I am going with Williams on that.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  Just a little fun.  One of the most under rated positions is oline.  You have to be tough to move guys out of the way on runs and then have to be able to stop a rush on a pass play.  IMHO the defensive players get the rep for being tough but the oline has to be to be able to move that defense out of the way or to protect the QB when throwing the ball.
