Also if I am not wrong I think Central puts an estimate down as the students do not pay and they do not count the attendance so the crowds could be off a bit.

I'm pretty sure every school estimates. I'm not aware of any place that has a physical ticket to get into the game and that would be the only way I can think of to get an official count on attendance. I can see a little bit of a difference in schools regarding attendance, but Central is a long ways below everyone else that I have to believe it is somewhat accurate.

Those are numbers from all 8 home games.
Olivet had a horrible gate
and your home schedule this year brought in no big games. Probably a big part of it, but you guys darn near had the lowest attendance in the conference. I don't count Cornell since a large portion of their players and fan base are a greater distance away than most of the other IIAC schools.

We need to find fans from each school willing to run the attendance numbers of their school going back to 2001 or whenever it is the IIAC website has the figures.

It takes only a couple minutes. I'll have Wartburg's after I get off this conference call. Obviously I'm paying close attention right now.

No. 5 is a BIG factor, trust me. Many schools merely estimate attendance and those that do almost always estimate way high.

An accurate turnstile count almost always is lower than people think it will be.

We should probably have fans estimate how closely each school comes to being accurate.  I know the Dubuque announcer estimated 3,500 for the Coe game last year and Coe listed 4,678.  BV lists 2,600 for the UD game.  UD has pictures of that game on their website and there are whole sections of that stadium that have nobody in them.  But, in the end it probably isn't too much of a big deal.  I'll go figure out the UD averages over the last few years.  In my time back in the late 80's early 90's I would estimate UD usually got around 500-600.  More if Central was there...the Dutch usually brought about 200 with them back in those days.

I believe that D3 is what the NCAA is talking about when they say "Most NCAA athletes go pro in something other than sports".

I know they were really pushing those ads in D2 basketball this year.  But I have seen a lot of athletes not necessarily go "pro" but keep playing beyond college at the D1 and D2 levels more than D3, percentage-wise.  There are a few guys that I played with who traveled over seas to play or joined an arena team or team similar.  A couple of D2 basketball guys from WSU have gone on to try for some amateur type teams.  Yes, it's not pro, but I would think there are more guys in D3 who just accept that the playing days are over and go on to regular jobs while a larger percentage of D2 and D1 guys have jobs that pay bills while working on playing more to possibly get to that "pro" level.

WH- you're roughly 1500 students off the Drake numbers. They like to say they have 5500 students, but that includes graduate, doctoral and law students. Actually, they usually have about 800 students in an entering class, although last year it was over 900. You probably won't see many of the graduate and law students attending games, unless they went to Drake for undergraduate. But to your point, they're still double that of most IIAC schools.

I still want to hear from someone who has actually attend both a Drake and IIAC game in the past few year. I would like to hear what you think? We can talk all the numbers that we want...I've seen both and I believe we're crazy to think Wartburg and Central would win 7 or 8 out of 10. From my observations, I think we would be lucky to go .500.

I agree whole heartedly with this statement.

I think all D111 and D11 estimate attendance I'm sure they do not count and then there always alot of freebies at the game :( :( :(

I didnt realize they counted grad students in that number. Either way, bigger than every IIAC school by 2 times other than I believe only Luther. Maybe BV is a lot bigger, I don't remember.
I only saw Drake play UNI and it was so ugly I didn't think they would hang with Cornell.

UD attendance

07 - 1,901
06 - 1,618
05 - 1,145
04 -  983

Before that it gets dicey.  Some attendance reported as -0- and some teams listed as home games 2 years in a row.
