First time poster...long time reader...In response to your topic on Central's atmosphere...I would agree with you in that it is probably one of the more boring places to play. I played at Luther from 04-08 and never really thought about the atmosphere when going to Pella. I know I always looked forward to playing at Wartburg, Loras, and even BV to an extent. Not sure what it was about playing at Central but when I think of places that I really looked forward to playing at that was probably towards the bottom along with UD. Thats just from my experience, unfortunately it never seemed to bother the Dutch...

Do students read this board?

I'm sure they do  ;) ;) ;)

i read as a student (mostly going into last couple years i think) - a guy i was friends with showed me it, there were other people that read it as well.

How did everybody find this site???

I think there was a link to d3football.com on some teams website when I was looking for a webcast.  I think it was BV but could have been Simpson.  I clicked on the link and then it took me a while to notice there was a message board.

DBQ1965,

FloydinIowaCity is a Norse fan you can add him to the list.

The North vs South.  I do think is a numbers game.  There are way more schools North of 80 than South.  The bottom two teirs of counties.  The two counties I have knowledge of are Lucas and Hardin.  Until two years ago when Eldora and Hubbard Radcliffe combined you had 4 High Schools in Hardin County and one more that serviced it.  Iowa Falls, AGWSR, HR, ENP in the county and BCLUW has the middle school in Union and High School in Conrad. Lucas County had two schools Chariton and Russell.  Now as of this year Lucas will have just Chariton.  In 4A Ottumwa and Burlington are the only ones I can think of that are definately South of I 80.  North of you have Dubuque, CR, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Ames, Fort Dodge, Mason City, and Soiux City.  The numbers definately favor the North.

I'm very disappointed in Central's game atmosphere.  DF1 has it right, there have been good crowds with BKE or TKB contributing to the fun but it seems that days have disappeared somewhat.   Its especially  frustrating with homecoming crowds, they pack the stands but they sit on their hands and socialize, as if the games were not important.

Sept. 20 Warty at Central for Dutch homecoming.  No Iowa or ISU home games.  The Knights will be favored (slightly) but it should be a whale of a game, (those are red shades I'm wearing).  It will be interesting to see what kind of crowd shows up.

Favorite game day traditions?

Mine has to be the BKEs running the game ball to Simpson, stopping for kegs and eggs at the Vroegh house. So hilarious!! Too bad the "game ball" never made it to Indianola until halftime or later.....

We have such a fun, tradition based campus legacy -- it's disappointing to see that this is falling to the wayside.

Shoot, I should have been gushing in my praise for Tim instead of putting in my 2 cents for Jermar getting MVP votes.  He used that as motivation for leading the Dutch to that triple OT win  ;D

I used to read it with some of the players. I started posting when I graduated.

Having just graduated I know for a fact that a lot of players/students read the board...think of it this way...you play D3 cuz you love the game and you want to talk about it and read about it as much as you can. D3sports.com is really the only place that you can read about it. Another comment on stadium atmosphere...I think who and when Iowa and ISU is playing during the week is a big thing that contributes to people coming to the game, and also just a lake of understanding of the quality of football that is being played at the D3 level.

Walston Hoover

Been reading it since my freshmen year of college. I wouldn't be surprised if my first post was the day we got back from Linfield. I had a different name then, but I don't remember what it was. I know coaches all around the league read this. I just introduce myself as Walston Hoover and they all then know who I am.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

You know you are kind of right.  The players don't post when they are playing.  They don't want fodder for the other team to use.  I think you would be surprised how motivating some the posts can be on here to the players.  I know that the postings from here were motivation for the players.   You get some quotes on here and can fuel to motivate some guys.   ;D ;D ;D

I would definitely agree with you Dutchfan...I remember a post from my junior year in which I got ripped on pretty good...one of my friends told me about it and I put it in my locker the rest of the year...that was just me. There was some guys who would read this everyday but on the other hand you could ask others and they would have no idea what it was...I'll let ya guess which one I was...
