ShowMe, I will let you be just a fan.  The two of us might be just about the only ones on here that aren't either a former player, cheerleader, parent, or employee of one of the IIAC schools!!!

And I like your enthusiasm!!!  Support your school and dream big...even if it isn't very likely!!!  Me being a Spartan fan I know where you are coming from!!!

You will have a lot of fun on this board.  Everyone supports their school and gives other supporters trouble.  But last year come playoff time you found just about everyone from the IIAC board rooting for Central to do well in the playoffs.  At the end of the day we all have fun on this board.

Tell me about supporting Central in the playoffs! I think I'm still getting karma stolen by angry Johnnies!

No way.  K battles are for game week only.  There are miscreant lurkers that have the time (lack of lives?) to spare pinging away for the rest of the year, but it ain't one of us.

I thought the Dutch/Johnnie week was a hoot.  The Johnnie fans seem like a great bunch of beer-guzzlin', wise-crackin', ice-fishin', hollerin' at the top of their lungs all game long, fans.

We IIAC'ers have some great fans, but a Johnnie game with its Stiftungfestterburgerstein is an EVENT.  I've only seen pictures online and there's just no comparison...it looks like a D-1 event at a D-III game.

Its worth having Heys Rev. 3 look at being a Johnny just to have a reason to go.  But from what I've seen you don't need any better reason than being a football fan to have fun there.

I saw a great St. Johns video on youtube.  Coach Gags makes every senior a captain.  When asked why he would have 25 seniors all be captain he replied that it looks good on their resume!!!  I thought that was great.  St. Johns about doubles the attendance of neighboring St. Cloud St.  which is a D2 school!!!

Doolittle, you should read "the Sweet Season" written by SI writer, Austin Murphy. He spent an entire season on the sidelines with the Johnnies, and it gives insight to their program -- it's a fascinating read.

Gags is so humble -- his greatness truly comes from his humility. I wish their fans would pick that up....

I will put that on my christmas wish list!!!  The last book I read was the Iowa Conference History 1922-1961.  That was a very good read.  And the forward was by William Petersen.  A UD alum and was my sisters neighbor when she lived in Iowa City!!!

With my amazing powers of deduction, I'm assuming you are a Central fan and have added you to the fan base list accordingly.  If I'm wrong ... I'm sure I will hear.

Anyone out there have info about if their school archives their internet broadcasts???  I know Dubuque and Simpson archive their games but I haven't noticed any of the other schools doing so.  I like to listen to old games while I work and it would be nice to hear the broadcasts from other schools announcers.

QuoteI was in the Virgin Islands once. Met a girl. We ate lobster and drank pina-coladas. At sunset we made love like Sea Otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over and over and over?

That wonderful day in your life must not have been February 2nd that year.  :-\

Wartburg does NOT achieve games. BUT I can give you a small sample of the  color commentator. "errr, ahh, errr" ;) >:( >:( >:(
Maybe a new president will allow Comm Arts majors to get back into doing football like they do all other sports.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Nice story about Chad Eisenman and his Central comeback.  But tell me ... does the picture of him on the D3football homepage look like his defensive play there was ripe for a pass interference call?

Wasn't the president who made that decision....but that is a whole nothing deal I would rather not get into.

Took work off on Monday to enjoy some All-Star Baseball (Northwoods not MLB) in Madison, WI.  I enjoyed sitting out in the sun watching America's past-time, but then I came back to the office on Tuesday only to find myself pages and pages behind on this board.  After taking the last hour or so reading football I am ready for Sept. 9th to get here.

Since i can't be just a fan, can I be a fanatic fan after Cornell wins their 1st conference game in September :)? Can I be an ecstatic fan if my conference champion dream come true? Can I be a pride fan enjoying the smell of eating crow if we get close? I  have to wait one play and one game at a time. Patience is painful, losing is painful, whay can't I be a fan after paying the price?

If not Coe (9/20), then Wartburg (9/27)

I'm hoping for both. I'll be thankful with either. I'll still be a supporter if it's neither.

Yeah, he might have gotten away with one there.

You used the correct word there.  "Might"  That picture does not show the hand or arm on him.  You can not tell from that pic if the arm or hand is in contact with the Oliver player.  Not because I am a Dutch fan but because that is what is shown by the pic.  I would be the first to say he got away with one if he truly did get away with something.

Let's just say that all good DB's get away with one every now and then.

I'm glad someone broached that subject. I'd like a clarification on the Sea Otter thing, but then again, maybe I don't.
