Punts that got returned last year were just freshman mistakes.  This year all of Brondyke's punts will be downed inside the 5.

All is a big work to use there....didn't know he would be able to punt 60-80 yd punts and get no returns...he might want to kick away from Breitbach just to make sure!

There used to be a bar in Campustown in Ames called the Library. As in "But Dad, I spent Friday and Saturday nights at the Library!"

There's a place on College Hill in Cedar Falls now called The Library.  Or so I've been told. ;)

There is one in La Crosse.  On the big awning out front it says "If Mom Calls Tell Her I Am At The Library".

Drake has the Library right on University Ave. I've driven by it a few times, but haven't been in it. Looks like a dump, but people swear it has the best nachos around.

Those that look like dumps on the out side sometimes are great college bars ::) ::)

Wish we still had Huisman's speed on the punting team to make that happen.  The punter can get it there, but it usually takes someone else with the speed to get to the right place at the right time to stop it from going on in which worked very well for Vermeer.  It is hard to place it out of bounds inside the five consistently and punts rarely die on their own down there.

With some of the recent talk about the stadiums I thought I would share some info I received this morning from a pretty reliable source. Cornell fans will really take interest to this and I know the posters that were complaining about the parking will like it as well.

I was told this morning that in 2 years maybe 3 that Ash Park will have the field turf, lights and new press box and seating. Most likely they will get a new fence as well...not sure whether that will be the black iron or brick like we talked about on here. I asked about the visitor seating being made into one instead of having the 3 seperate sections and they did not know if that would be on the agenda. The old baseball field...at least the infield will be a parking lot. The new baseball fiel will be by the soccer field which is close to the MV high school. The softball field is going to be moved to the high school field which is being totally gutted. I was also told and saw on the Cornell website that there was some shuffling on the athletic staff.

Good news out of Cornell!!!

So, Briar Cliff started their football program up within the last 10 years.  Dordt and Grand View begin their football teams this year.  What 4 year schools in our state are left without a football program???

I can think of Clarke in Dubuque, Mt. Mercy in Cedar Rapids, and Ashford in Clinton.  And if I am not mistaken I think all three of those schools had been catholic girls schools.  So I could see how there might not be that big of a push to start up football teams.  Especially for Clarke and Mt. Mercy that are in cities that already have small college football.

Are there any other schools out there in Iowa???

Faith Baptist in Ankeny and Emmaus in DBQ don't have football (both bible colleges) and I could be wrong, but I don't think Graceland in Lamoni has football either.

Graceland has football and in fact, is usually a pretty good NAIA team.

Good news for Cornell, i hope it's true and I hope we can improve our record from 2-8 to 8-2 in 08. We will need more seats. A good season will help move the plan from 2 to 3 years to less than 2 years. I'm the optimist, time will tell!
