My Summer as I know it ends on Saturday morning at 7:30. From that point on, I have 2 weekend (not consecutive) days and 2 weekdays until November with no football.
My time up until then will be spent taking my daughter to the dentist (which she is excited for  ??? ) and keeping my wife cooled off. Maybe work a little too.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Slow morning.  In order to meet WH's two pages per day requirement, we better get moving ;D

Anyone have any final summer plans before school, football season, and all the family activities take over?

Doolittle has Pedro Cerano came by with JoBoo to bless the lawn mower for the upcoming season yet ;)?

End-0f-Suumer plans are "bad news" here.

The seriously "bad news" is that August is on hold for us as our daughter and soon-to-be ex-son-in-law have a "settlement conference" with a judge in divorce court this afternoon.  With our 7-year old grandson (with a moderate case of cerebral palsy) a primary factor in custody issues, we await with some anxiety the outcome of this afternoon's process.

The "bad news" from a less serious perspective is that I will be in Germany for UD's season home opener (and most likely Chalmers Field/Moco Mercer Stadium dedication) as well as the Redland's game.  It is a mixed feeling to be going to visit a good, long-time friend on his home turf vs. missing the first two games for Spartan Blue.  At least I can check in from Hannover to see how IIAC season openers went ... and then check in from Dresden for week 2 of non-conference play.  But before we leave, I will make a special offering to the football gods for doolittledog's "mojo mower."
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

End of the summer looks pretty low key for me with the exception of a trip to Texas this time next week.  Texas in August wasn't my idea, but I've got a good friend from Wartburg that lives down there that it'll be good to see again.

Other than that and Iowa Irish Fest this weekend in Waterloo, not much else on the docket for this guy.

Hope all goes well for you and your daughter in the hearing.  We will be praying for you.

As far as your trip to Germany...I wouldn't feel too bad about missing 2 DBQ games to travel to Germany and visit old friends!!!  I'll give you updates on those games, and I know you will make it to more in the future!!!

As far as the mower...you roll with God...so I think your blessings will mean a lot more!!!  But I will keep mowing...just in case  ;D ;D ;D

Is he going to teach up his QB's on how to throw INTs into the end zone during playoff games?  :D

I'm in a different situation this year. For the first time in 4 yrs, I'll be free from spending most Saturday fall afternoons at HS  swimming pools all over eastern Ia watching  Ms. Neumann (youngest child) swim for CF. She heads to the Twin Cities for college in 4 weeks and Lil' Neumann reports to Wartdom a couple days later. So we'll be making some additional Wart games this season.

Yeah, 5 ints on the day (4 by Hoskins) to Linfield's 3 turnovers (2 picks, 1 fumble).

Some nice publicity for the IIAC today with Senator Obama hosting a town hall forum at Coe's Eby Fieldhouse.

He had also spoke on Coe's Campus back in the spring when Coe hosted a MTV/Myspace Presidential Dialogue which aired on the internet Live (watched a little from work) and on MTV the following night or something like that.  Overall it's great that Coe College is able to host these types of speeches and is great for the college!

Ooh, did we have a "Major League" reference today???

Summer plans for me outside of work include...mowing, trying to act like I have some sort of authority over my children, saying "yes dear" to my wife a lot, taking our kids to the pool after dinner so as to tire them out for bed time, staying on my diet...10 pounds lost in just under 2 months!!!, checking this site often in anticipation for the upcoming football season!!!

Congrats on the loss of weight.  I know it is tough to do.  I have been lucky.  The last three months I have lost 40.  Three months ago diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.  I have to watch my carb intake as carbs convert to sugar and that raises you sugar blood level.  So with limiting the amount of carbs to 30-45 grams of carbs in a meal I have dropped the weight.  It is not easy to stay in that range since a bun on a hamburger is 30 grams of carbs.  1 slice of bread is 13-28 grams so a sandwich is almost there.  Lots of salad, carrrots, and broccoli for me.  If you can eat this food you can all lose weight.  The dietician (spelling)  told me for a man to lose weight the carb limit is 30-45 grams for a woman (sorry DF1)  the limit is 30, you have to stay there to lose weight.  Well I can eat all the non starchy veges I want limit meat to 6 ounces a day and carbs to 30-45 a meal and the weight sort of falls off.  I guess Larry the Cable Guy and his diet on Nutri System must be about like this.  GET ER DONE.   ;D ;D ;D  The DR and son of DF2k4 want me to lose another 40.  If I make it I won't have been this light since HS.
