I love it -- Luther and Warturg have arguably the best rivalry in the IIAC from a student/fan standpoint. There are legendary antics between the two schools. I knew the guy that rented a plane and paper's Luther's campus with fliers. There are countless tales.... from what I've always heard, Luther has the upper hand on the creative side of things, too.

Back in the day, Central had a bit of fun with Billy Penn, and a few antics with Simpson, but nothing as creative and fun as the Luther/'Burg combonation.

The shirts came on Homecoming '99. Featured a Knight "making a tinkle" (sorry, potty training has me in toddler speak right now) on a Norse parade.

As for the Animal House movie, "CUT THE CAKE" was used by those prankster from KWAR to identify themselves during their appearance in the Luther HC parade.

Watching that movie again made me think of that incident as well.  I could be wrong, but I think we're coming up on the 10th Anniversary this fall.  Everyone loves a parade!

I do believe it was Buddha's senior year so it would 10 this fall. "Sorry to rain on your parade" shirts for EVERYONE.  ;D

My sources tell me that was October 17, 1998, placing the 10th anniversary on the Friday of this year's Homecoming weekend.

Just a reminder,  today is the 1 year anniversary of the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis.

Easy LCNorse, its to early for Luther College fans to start trading barbs with the fans of that lutheran prep school to the west. Thats not until week nine.

I think this is what you meant to say.

Some Norse are trying though. In the 2007 Waverly Heritage Days parade there was 1 college represented - Luther.  There are quite a few alums  and current and future students in the area. So they borrowed the Blue pick-up from a WC VP, got a college banner, matching "Blue Crew" t-shirts and entered the parade. Some in town had the some feeling about the entry that some at LC had with the Outdoor Nature Enthusiasts.

Does this guy sound a little overqualified to be an assistant VB coach at Wartburg?

He'll probably be the fall guy for the athletic department debacle Iowa's having. After all he's from the "Axis of Evil".

Who knows, maybe he will also teach at Wartburg.  Maybe his wife is getting a job in the area.  Maybe cost of living in Waverly is a lot better than cost of living in Iowa City compared to salary levels.  There are worse places to live than Waverly!!!

Think of the cost of living in Des Moines vs. Waverly.  Now if you could get the OC or DC job at Wartburg...plus your wife get on the staff of the vollleyball team.  Mix in cheap babysitting with family near by...your kids getting a FREE education at Wartburg if you are employed there.  You might be making less but would the move be worth it in your eyes???

The Animal House quotes reminded me that Caddyshack was on last Sunday. Watched it with footballkid. The contest was who could do the dialogue first. He's pretty good with the lines, but on my deathbed I'll receive total conciousness. I've got that going for me.

He is the spouse of former U of I volleyball coach Cindy Fredrick, who moved back to Waverly to be Community Recreation Programs Coordinator for the W. Her dad (Walt) was former VP of business and finance before R. Matthias. Her brother (Dave) is in charge of International student recruitment @ WC. Also her son Ali is headed to UNI from Kirkwood to play basketball this year.

Sounds like a great break for Wartburg. Not every day someone with that resume comes along.
