It appears the bleachers are being installed now.

On the football - soccer dialogue ... the great Brazilian soccer star Pele once said:

"Football, its a wonderful game."
Wow, that is looking really nice.  All the same, after last year, I'm glad we play at home this year.   ;)

And I am on record that you can be a fan of both football and futbol!!!

It is funny how kickers get made fun of on a football team until they make that game winning field goal with 2 seconds left in a game!!!

Dubuque schedule shows games

@ 9th ranked Central
@ 23rd ranked Wartburg
@ 24th ranked Redlands

I suppose that could help the Spartans case for a ranking if they can win those games!!!

Sounds like a few of the IIAC schools have had a little clash between soccer players and football players (or soccer-loving sports writers and football players).  Back in high school, our rivals (Caledonia Warriors) had one of the football coaches get in a little bit of trouble for publicly referring to the soccer players as "grass fa**ots"

(are we supposed to censor posts?  better safe than sorry)

I've actually rad Ash Park and Purple Heys support Cornell solo for about 2 years. I felt compelled to come out of the closet this season to help support. So, take it easy on me.

I thought you were a Cornell fan not a Luther fan?

Either way, welcome to the board.  As you can see, lots of light hearted jokes back and forth but overall everyone here wants to see their team win the IIAC and past that they want to see any IIAC team make a run in the playoffs.  Just see the support last year for Central against St. John's.

There is a football coach at a high school that borders Black Hawk county that told his players they wouldn't be starters for his football team in the fall if they went out for soccer in the spring!!!

Soccer will get you in a lot better shape than running track, but I guess some people are just scared of things they know nothing about.  They didn't grow up with soccer so they feel like they need to ridicule it to mask the fact they know nothing about it.

All this animosity amongst football and futbol. Not saying that Central is all hunky dory but I never really saw any type of conflict when I was there. In fact, there was pretty decent cooperation between all sports. Granted, not everyone is going to get along, but that is a fact of life. Or maybe I just went to the wrong parties and didn't see the animosity.

Coe really had no problems with Soccer and Footbal, mostly because Soccer was last on the totum pole of Coe Sports.  The only problem we had with them was them playing on our field.

I would figure that with the new FieldTurf install, that would be less of a problem...

My sister took a few pics of UD while in town for a wedding last weekend.  Maybe not the best pics in the world.  It should be fun to see the before and after pics when my wife and I are there next month for a game.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/12301803@N08/sets/72157606574323298/

That's shaping up to be a 1st class facility.

Now if they only could see fit to lock in placements for a couple of end zone cameras and one in the booth for a nice video webcast...

How about double overtime kicks that go through the uprights after being partially blocked.  Don't you think the kickers are still heros on their team.   ;D ;D ;D

It is coming.  I just don't know when!!!

A little side note...

In talking to PH Jr., he worked the Cornell Golf Tournament Fundraiser and met the father of a current IIAC foe.

QB dad asked if Jr. played defense...Jr. replied that he plays TE.

QB dad said good, he didn't want someone that size getting after his son.   :)
