Hoover...Sounds like you have some talent.  Sad to say it sounds as though you will out class my alma matta.  Sounds like the Dowling teams that I played against.  Whats the repot on Ankeney?  Everyone says that area has just exploded in the two and half years I have been away from central Iowa.
Ankeny is very much an unknown this year. VERY talented team last year, but most of that team was seniors. They will still be very good, but I don't see a return trip to the UNI dome for them. Valley and SE Polk will be too good. Some people seem to think Waukee could be good, but that's tough to tell right now.

Very interesting.  Waukee seems to have made the transition to the 4A level much better than Johnston did.  During my 4 years they were not any good at all, recently they seemed to have had success, but it took a while to get that ship rolling.  Wasnt Waukee a playoff team last season?  I know they might have been eliminated in the first round but isnt this only there second or third year at this level?  Beautiful day for some football today!

Some guy over on the MWC board indicated SNC had a good chance against Wartburg because the Knights weren't as good as they had been in the past.  I was ready to argue with him until I pulled out my abacus and did some calculating.  >:(

The seniors on the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Wartburg teams had average career records of 37.3 wins and 6.7 losses.
The seniors on the 2005, 2006, and 2007 teams had average career records of 34 wins and 9 losses.
Basically, the last three classes celebrated 3 fewer wins and mourned 2 more losses over their careers than did the three classes before them.  That doesn't seem like much over four years, but it does represent why there have been no trophies or playoff invitations.   :(

Hopefully Coach Willis can get the train back on the tracks;D

Coach K goes 16-4 and Wartburg fans are hoping Coach Willis can get the train back on the tracks!!!  Talk about high expectations!!!  ;D

That does sound like a reasonable goal for a team like Wartburg.

Why not take care of those non-con games, too? ;)

WH what a great day should have had a great camp day  8) 8) 8) 8)
A little warm this morning, but this afternoon was great.
Great camp altogether. Most excitement we've had around our program since the first year we've been there. Going 6-3 and getting left out of the playoffs tends to motivate a team in the offseason.
We should be huge up front this year to the tune of 2 guys over 6'3, and 2 other guys at 6'2 and a 5'11 guard, averaging probably 240-250 per guy. Very talented TE and a returning starter at QB and 2 year returner at TB.
The team will be built around our defense though, and should be our best defense in the 4 years I've been at Dowling. Very young, but extremely talented, Especially once we get everyone healthy.
We also have a punter that as a junior is supposedly a top 25 punter in the nation and 2 placekickers that will have scholarships in college.
Now we have to find a way to compete with Valley and their 3 D1 guys and SE Polk  and their farm boys who really want to kick our arse.

You know how those farm boys can be don't you ;D ;D ;D

They are to the point right now where everyone needs to take them very seriously. They graduated their most talented class athletically they've had (evidenced by their great baseball run this year)
Our conference could easily be won by 4 teams, but who knows, the other 2 might just sneak up on someone this year as well.
Urbandale has a great new facility, and some talented skill guys, but loses a decent portion of their coaching staff to Grand View.
Indianola's top talent is just as good or better as anyone in the conference, but they have a numbers problem and no depth.

When I say "farm boys," it is a most endearing term. SEP has been the most physical team in our league throughout the 4 years I have been coaching, and I don't think its any coincidence they are also the most rural.

Just the Wart fans?   ;D ;D ;D
Nah, they're just the ones who complain the most.
Make them sit in their own visitor stands once, that should quiet them down.  When I have gone to Coe, I ended up sitting in the home stands, with most of the Central fans.  Not a preference, but the stands and viewing ability were far better than at Wartburg.

Dubuque just doesn't pad their attendance counts like BV and say there are 2,600 in attendance when in fact apparently nobody is in attendance http://www.dbq.edu/udathletics/football/udfootball/Site/Photos_files/Media/IMG_9619/IMG_9619.jpg?disposition=download   ;D ;D ;D  I kid, I kid

BV didn't say the 2,600 were Beaver fans!  :D :D

This just in.....Favre traded to the Jets....any opinons or thoughts??
I didn't think it was possible, but this hurts worse than Suckow's departure to Wartburg. I hope the Packer-Jets Super Bowl isn't like last year's Kohawk-Knights game.

Packers-Jets Super Bowl?  That's never gonna happen.  Last spring I thought I was going to get to enjoy a whole NFL season without hearing about Favre and the Packers.  Now it's gonna be a comparison all year long about how the Packers are doing and how the Jets & Favre are doing.

Then again, I heard there was this football team in a small, CENTRAL, Iowa town...  :D

Also, would the webcast just be from what is being shot by the team? Those are usually a little iffy looking, would we even want to watch that? I guess I'd take anything, but I feel like I'd still have to have the radio broadcast playing.  What audio is Coe using? Thats not too big of a deal, but it would be nice to see a little better quality feed for these games. Maybe I'm spoiled by ESPN :)

I thought I read Coe was going to use the radio broadcast with the video.

du-sz, I assume you are a part of the media and have the critical eye like the rest of us Comm Arts folk and a former techie like AEN.  Sometimes at work I have to take a step back and realize that to the general public they know we are not ESPN, but they are just happy to see their kid on TV.  They don't care if it's a 20 camera shoot with 2 announcers with a side line reporter and instant replay with moving graphics.  Obviously we look to improve our broadcasts at all times, but just getting this stuff on air or on the internet is important at well.

Division II Northern Sun Conference had a deal with a company called Penn Atlantic to provide webcasts of all of the conference games.  Some were one camera up in the rafters while others were multicamera shoots with announcers.  Looks like they have a deal with the Midwest Conference.  It costs $7 a game though to view it.  So I would hope it's more than just one camera up in the pressbox.
