If Cornell wins a game, it will be against Loras or Luther.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

O conference wins - No Surprise

I agree it makes the conference appear better if there is NOT a team that goes winless in conference.

Coming of two years of 0 wins in the conference I think any win would be a big surprise...with how competitive the rest of the conference is I really don't know if I see a game that Cornell wins. There is something to say about knowing how to win, when it comes down to a close game your revert back to your past experiences...what will Cornell look at?...one conference win is definitely a step for the program. Every long journey has to start with one step...

Dubuque went 1-7 in 2005...then went 5-3 in 2006.  Including winning 3 nailbiters to end the season.  Close wins against BV, Simpson and then an OT win @ Wartburg.

So, maybe this year Cornell goes 1-7  but plays everyone tough.  Then for Heys Jr's senior year the Rams really step it up.  Who knows.  With all the coaching turnover in the conference it is hard to tell how things will shake out.  I could see Cornell going 1-7...I also wouldn't be stunned to see them go 4-4...with a win over a top 4 conference team!!!

This season seems to have more question marks than most seasons.

Doolittle, I agree with you to an extent. BUT, I would argue that in 2005, UD was making some systematic improvements to position themselves to have that 5-3 season the next year.

My question, to all the Ram fans out there -- what changes have been made to make 2008 any different from last year or the year before that? It would be awesome to have the Rams (and every team) be more competitive every week....I just don't know how the Rams are planning to get there...

Too bad Upper Iowa isn't around anymore.  Just in case there are any UIU supporters lurking out there, go ahead and eat one.

Pretty sure Luther supporters eat the same thing.

I'm only supporting my team and I should have the right to do it my way.

I've dealt with the Central chatter for too long without letting it bother me.

And yes, thats why I made the comment that I will eat the crow, probably at the end of the year.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the season
ShowMe, I'm always glad to see excitement for other teams.  I'm not sure I expect Cornell to be the team with the biggest gain this year, but your excitement is fine by me.

We agree on the Central chatter too, it hasn't bothered me either!   ;D ;D ;D

In fact, if you have to eat crow at the end of the season, I will throw in some Dutch letters for dessert.  Actually, why eat crow at all.  We could come up with a school specific version of crow for each school.  Dutch letters make sense for Central.  What do you other schools have to offer?  Extra points if you can work your team's nickname into it without too much of a stretch.  Ours was easy.

Good idea,

Ram fans, what do you think about Ram Lamb Chops?

Actually Dutch Letters are a pastry...so I would suggest Rams' Horns

I like Ram Horns, come get a trophy

For the entertainment, I will eat all the crow!

If I didn't find your doe-eyed devotion adorable (in a chubby-cheek baby sort of way) I would tell you to grab a fork....

ShowMe, I want to be clear -- I'm not bagging on you. I get that you are excited about the season. It's cool that you have such high expectation and hopes for your team. OK, we've got that -- no one is actively bashing the Rams, though, so this over-the-top Cornell love-fest that you are trying to have on the board is a bit much, even for me. Good luck this season -- I really hope that you are singing the same tune at the end of the season like a true fan.

I understand how you feel and appreciated the feedback.

ShowMe....Bring something else to the board other than Cornell propoganda.  I mean come on, you can at least chime in on another topic.  Hearing day after day about how Cornell is going to suprise everyone is getting a bit much.  I am already on record saying that I think Cornell could be the suprise team this year.  I really hope they have great success, it will only make the conference strong.  In regards you putting up with Central talk....no one forced you to read this board.  I am not a Central backer, but they have a proven track record.  I joined the board in order to have more people backing the Beavers.  Give the unadulterated love a rest and let the season's results call the shots.

OK, when I understand the conversation

Sh!t - Lovie smith every 5 minutes

That's exactly what all us Bears fans say when we see Rex take the field on Sundays.

AND MONDAYS + THURSDAYS

Kyle Orton had awesome last night.  7 of 10 for 56 yards and a fumble.  Sweet.  Not representing SE Polk too well.

i'm just going to go out there and say that yes, cornel could be a suprise team, but i honestly don't see them winning a game again.

Well lets take a vote then.  If Cornell is the surprise team of the IIAC and they don't win an IIAC game this year and go 0-8 in the conference again that would be a surprise would it not.  I mean three seasons without a conference win.  So that being said how many here vote that showme does not have to eat crow.   ;D ;D ;D

Yes 0-8 will be a surprise and dinner is on me
If we win over 1 conference game then dinner is on you

What hapened to beating Wartburg and Central?

ShowMe

Since Cornell is probably concidered the 2008 last place team.

Let's look at the 7th place team in the conference, which team and how many wins? It's time for the message board media day forecast.

Based on last years record, I predict Loras with 1 conference win

That's between Loras, Luther, or BV. I don't expect to much from Simpson, but I do think they will finish ahead of these teams.
