People are becoming increasingly stupid while driving their motor vehicles and its causing a lot of problems on the road.

Exactly.  The whole "common sense isn't so common" thing comes to mind.  The most unreal sight along the drive was probably along I-55 between Memphis and St. Louis where I was following a pick-up that was going about 80 with someone riding in the bed of the truck.   :o

I really love it when you have a car in the right lane going 65 and the car in the left lane going 65.25!!!

10 minutes later after the car in the left lane has finally cleared the car in the right you have to pass the car in the right lane because they won't get over  >:(

I also love it when you pass a slow moving car and notice they are on their cell phone.  You have now cleared them and just as you are about to get back into the right lane they finish their call and suddenly speed up 10 mph and blow by you in the right lane  ::)

It also seems intersting to me that Wartburg fans seem to be very happy to have Willis back and that he will bring Wartburg back to the level Coach Koehler couldn't get the Knights.  Koehler went 13-3 in IIAC play.  OT losses to Central and Dubuque as well as a 3 point loss to Central on a last minute field goal.

The Des Moines Register ran a story on the Grand View football team.

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080808/SPORTS0208/808080387/0/SPORTS

Did they run the story because of Grand View being local???  Or because they think the NAIA is better than D3 because they offer scholarships???

1 reader must think so.  In a reply to the article the reader said if Grand View can't beat Coe in their scrimmage they will be in for a long year!!!  ::)

Interesting you say this as I was kind of thinking along these lines.  No doubt that Willis is a good coach his record speaks for itself.  Koehler didn't have a shabby record either.  But the last two years against Wartburg were an OT victory and a three pointer under Koehler as Doolittle stated.  The year before that when Willis was at the helm was a special teams nightmare meltdown.  Central had a very young team at that time.  Central is in that same boat this year with a young team.  I do not give the edge to Wartburg for the coaching change but for the players age and experience on the field.  Time will tell and we don't have to go the whole season to find out what will happen.  I think the game is a toss up at this point.  Giving Wartburg the edge for the upper classmen and Central playing at home.

I have a co-worker who is convinced that a NAIA school (Nebraska Weselyen) could "roll" anybody in D3. My question is there a NAIA school that you personally would like to see play a preseason game with a D3 school?

Stangly enough, I am quitting work at 2pm today to mow our yard!!!

Another thing after reading that article about Grand View.  I really really really hope Coe in their scrimmage and then Simpson in their game against Grand View really take it to them.  And BV and Luther I hope don't let up in their games against Waldorf.  I have talked to some NAIA fans recently that not only think the NAIA is on par or better than D2, but some of them think it's better to play NAIA than D1-AA!!!  They seem to regard D3 football as a joke when the NAIA doesn't even fair well against D3 football.

Central played Nebraska Wesleyan years ago and I'm pretty sure we won the meetings with them.  We have also beaten them in volleyball and I think we met them in the basketball tourney as well.  I always thought there were DIII, but I could be wrong.  It happens.   :-[

You can give your NAIA fan these stats.  http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4504.165

D3 went 23-8 against the NAIA in 2006 and 21-8 in 2007

Including some ranked NAIA teams losing to very average D3 teams!!!

I know it wouldn't work out to have the 10 Iowa D3 teams play the 10 Iowa NAIA teams during the regular season.  But it would be nice to see many of these teams meet up for pre-season scrimmages.

BeaverFan3208

I know when I played at BV we played both morningside and northwestern (both in Nebraska Weselyan's conference) in JV every year (this was 2 years ago). I remember getting beat by Morningside every time but i think  we beat Northwestern every year. Northwestern is ranked nationally in NAIA every year so does this mean BV should be ranked in the NAIA polls?! :D

I just checked their web-site and they are both NAIA (football) and DIII (basketball)

i know that Loras used to play St. Ambrose for non-con's in that last couple of years, and they were always decided by less then a touchdown, much closer sometimes.  that's loras, which is a pretty average to sometimes below average in the IIAC, and i beleive St. Ambrose is usually pretty good in the NAIA

Wartburg "got rolled up on" by the last NAIA they played in 2003 to the tune of only beating them 47-0.
Peru State was 6-5 in '06 but no idea how they finished in '03.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships
