I suppose tonight sometime I could look up how all the IIAC teams have fared against NAIA teams dating back to 1999 just by looking up this site.  Should be interesting.  In my talks with NAIA fans I have found them to be very delutional about the quality of their football.

I don't mean to knock their football.  I think D3, NAIA and most of D2 are very comparable forms of football.  I just don't like how NAIA fans seem to think they are so superior when the results just don't show it.

I suppose you could add me to the list of Cornell supporters. They may not win any games this year, but I will smile with any that they do.

D3=NAIA IMO
Top 25% of D2= Better than 95% of D3. Upper Middle 25%= top 25% of D3.
Lowest 25% of D3= Worse than 98% of D2.
Completely made up numbers, but I think in general they are pretty accurate.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Topic to discuss....

I have a co-worker who is convinced that a NAIA school (Nebraska Weselyen) could "roll" anybody in D3. My question is there a NAIA school that you personally would like to see play a preseason game with a D3 school?

Nebraska Wesleyan? That's a D-III school in basically everything but football. :)

Last time Nebraska Wesleyan actually PLAYED a D-III football program, they lost. To Austin College. Which finished 3-7.

Wartburg "got rolled up on" by the last NAIA they played in 2003 to the tune of only beating them 47-0.
Peru State was 6-5 in '06 but no idea how they finished in '03.

Peru St. went 7-4 in 2003.  So it's not like they were a terrible NAIA team.

How about Sioux Falls University?  They are perennial winners.

In reading old posts over the weekend, I jotted down three quotes that cracked me up. I'll give you the quote, you give me the author.

1- Short and unathletic is my middle name. Thank the NCAA for allowing cut blocking, or I would have had to been a kicker.

2- Can anyone explain a late October 6pm kickoff in Indianola? Other than Indianola looks better in dim light.

3- If his cousin transferred from Iowa to Wartburg would be the only way a Suckow would be wearing anything but crimson and gold.

du-sz

The Loras v. Ambrose games used to be quite the contests. Its too bad that rivalry ended two years ago, we always loved to give those scholarship Catholics a challenge. The last couple years we played them it was always a close battle even though the Bees were a solid NAIA team. I think the notion that the two levels are pretty comparable is probably close to the truth.
Not going to lie...Dewey is a pretty good looking bird/furry beaked body builder.

i'll take ownership to that... it was before everyone knew what was actually happening, and before everyone knew the reason/story (does anyone yet?)
i just didnt think there would be any way that would have happened.  but on the flip-side... his cousin did also transfer in, and is playing there now.
i guess i never knew the powers of a roofing job  ;)

You were the first person I thought of, but for some reason I was thinking you haven't been around the board that long.

Pre Training Camp Prediction – The conference pecking order will be different this year, the cream will rise to the top.  Get ready to for the truth, it won't be pretty for those that see the status quo., it's heartbreak time, get your popcorn ready!
