Coe's Season Is Over!

That's right.  Indianapolis Colts defensive back Michael Coe will be placed on injured reserve after having surgery on his knee.

Good one that headline got me to read the rest of the post.

Speaking of wood....(jeez, now I sound like a Luther student)...there is an NAIA college called Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO.  I was browsing their website for school info on them for an upcoming hockey game and interesting enough I saw that their college radio station was 89.1 just like KWAR at Wartburg used to be.  However, they must not be quite as family oriented as the 'Burg as they were not "89.1 The One" but rather "89.1 The Wood".  Of course that might be just a tad better than the University of Minnesota Morris whose radio station call letters were K-U-M-M.  Just imagine the shirt slogans.

minus karma for you for making this sight not family oriented  :-*

Of course if you are talking about stumbling home from the Pour House, any wood at Kwik Star is amazing.

There are pills you can take for that nowadays.

WOW!  And the "W" key is not really all that close to the "F" key.

Here is a hypothetical for you.

There has been talk on here of posters from schools at the bottom end of the standings that join in the discussion here and then when their season goes into the tank these posters dissappear.

There has also been talk on here about the recruiting process and players choosing their school because they didn't want to play for a loser.

Now, every poster on here, regardless if they had a winning or losing football team, loved their time at their school and has great memories of their school.

We also note that the programs with the winning records have more posters on this site.

So, if suddenly Central and Wartburg and Coe became traditional 2-8 teams.  Would their fan base become a little more hands off???  Still love their school and team but start following them less and less as the years went on???  Go to fewer games...talk on here less???  Just curious.

I beleive you would see less, it takes a special fan to publicly align with a team on the bottom.

As much as I love football if Central did go on the skids I don't think I would post less and I will not attend less games.  The only thing that will keep me away from games is distance or weather.  I don't think I will ever sit through another ice storm again.   ;D ;D

That sounds like you are thinking of moving the family out to Redlands.  You'll make the decision after visiting your son and hanging with PH and his famous Carne Asada!!!

Not really, there's a lot of us Cyclone fans out there and several message boards devoted to talking abou them. I have met a lot of Cyclone fans and there's nothing special about a lot of them.

Most people tend to have more interest in "winners".  It has been hard to watch the Central Women's BB team and the wrestling team in the past several years.  With recent coaching changes, I will confess to a greater degree of interest, especially with the wrestling program.  I think the new coach has the right tools to help turn the corner again.  Don't know what that means in the toughest DIII conference in the nation, but still...

Hope is a good thing!  Most especially because it doesn't have to rely on truth, facts or statistics to "spring eternal".

Shoot! I will be heading out to football practice in a couple hours and won't be around to see the board hit the milestone.

Not that I think it will happen.  And not that I think if it did people would stop being fans.  I just wondered if being a fan would take somewhat of a back seat for them.  For fans of a school like Dubuque.  We have been at the bottom.  To see a bit of success now, we are soaking it in, but we know we could easily go back to where we were.  For the most part we accept that.  For a Central fan, or a Wartburg fan from the last 25 years or so.  They don't know any other way but winning.  I just wasn't sure how they would be able to handle the other side of things.

Again, not likely to happen...but that is what hypotheticals are!!!

Having followed UD Spartan football since 1962 ... I've seen a lot more L's than W's ... but that doesn't dampen my enthusiasm or loyalty.  When we lived in New England back in the 70's ... on most Saturday nights I was able to pick up Jim Zabel's 10 p.m. sports report on WHO (good signal bounce most of the time) and find out how UD did that day.  Good times began in the late 70's as that was Don Birmingham's reign as coach.  But then the bad times returned ... with the recent turn around like getting new life.   Thanks to the internet and d3football.com ... I even was able to pick up scores at an internet cafe in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala during the two weeks I was there in 2005 ... just as I will get the Rockford and Redlands scores during this coming September trip to Germany.

Whatever happens to the Spartans this season ... I will be here ... maybe quieter at some times than at others ... but here nevertheless.

With thankfulness for Pat Coleman ... d3football.com ... IIAC and especially UD fans and supporters ... I say

Go Spartans!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Geez, this board is really hopping!

This could add to it...

...Will Pat, now that he is living in a border state to Iowa, make it to any IIAC games this year???

I don't have to go to Redlands to watch good football.  Pella is a lot closer.  All of the IIAC schools are.  Nothing against Heys or Cali but I don't think I will ever move out there.  The three grandkids are here in Iowa and I don't (and the wife would not) want to leave and miss seeing them grow up.

Casey's and QT have the best food when you are on the run. I am a sucker for the pizza slices. I have had to turn a new leaf and give up fast food. Now my lunch hour consisits of yoga, walking, meditating while eating an apple;)

Okay guys what's everyones cure for the hangover. Is it food, water, gatorade. I love hearing peoples concoctions.

The best thing i have found to cure a hang over is KFC. Hit the buffet after a long night of drinking and take an hour nap and you're good to go
