did McGrew get reinstated to Loras?
That was their running back from 2 years ago, no?

I didn't get a chance to read any season preview on Loras but I saw him listed as a Jr. on the All-Conference Team and had some decent yearly stats.  If he is playing as a Sr. I would assume he will be the biggest Offensive threat for the Duhawks.

I would agree with that.  If they can get someone that is accurate to throw the ball with him in the backfield they could give some teams fits.

While we are on the subject of Loras,  I will throw this thought out there.  Do you think Coach O is kind of a front half of the season coach?   Meaning that while I have been following the IIAC for four years now, at BV and at Loras his teams seem to do ok at the front half of the season and then fall off the pace.  4 years ago at BV they were in the IIAC Crown/Playoff hunt and fell apart at the end of the year.  Loras seems to do ok in the first part of the season and then fall apart.  Does anyone else have that feeling?

McGrew should be ready to go this season. I just saw him on campus yesterday. Hes a pretty model student and an RA.  You might be thinking of McCarren who was kicked off the team last season for disciplinary reasons.

I do wonder about McGrew's backup from last season that got hurt, Davis. What is his status after a injury plauged, but promising season. Whos going to be our QB by the way??

Hopefully Coach O can get past the second half woes!

Let's see...The list of things to do before the season starts, (you aren't real fan until you've committed to print):

1) Predict preseason conference order of finish.

2) Players of note your team, the other teams, whatever...just keep it positive, these are our own kids playing for the purest reason there is to play.

3) Coach of the Year...put out a couple of reasons.

4) Playoff penetration...how far will our best go?

Yordi, Hoerner, Herzberg, Goodchild, Botembe for Wartburg.  I really didn't get a chance to read a lot on any other teams, but a few names I picked out that I expect to hear about this season Brondyke (CEN) Remick (CEN) Dietz (SIM) Stover(s) (SIM) Reutzel (SIM) Wilkens (COE)  Brietbach (COE) Hall (LOR) McGrew (LOR) Malcolm (UD) Tierney (COR) Hardman (COR) Bladt (COR) Donscheski (BV) Hansen (BV)

Sadly, I don't think we have him back. I wish we did! :)

Casey's and QT have the best food when you are on the run. I am a sucker for the pizza slices. I have had to turn a new leaf and give up fast food. Now my lunch hour consisits of yoga, walking, meditating while eating an apple;)

Okay guys what's everyones cure for the hangover. Is it food, water, gatorade. I love hearing peoples concoctions.

Drink lots of water before you drink, the alcohol causes dehydration. An IV wwill help the hang over.

Very impressive football record

If you consider being at or near the top of the conference for 40+ years, 1 national title and 2 other finals appearances impressive  ;D

Airborne Dutch

DF1, oh, they passed through my lips. Water to water down the whiskey a bit, milk for the white russians, and soda for the captain and cokes.

I keep meaning to ask.  Was Cliff Bunting Director of Admissions when you were at UD?
Sounds familiar, think he was there when I was there

NCAA Division III playoff berths: 19 (tied for most in Division III, 16 in past 22 years)

Thats a record that deserves recognition, my jaw is hurting too

Wartburg or Central will make it 2nd or 3rd.  If Simpson or Cornell (that's for you ShowMe) ends up in the playoffs I see a well fought respectable 1st round loss, maybe even 2nd depending on 1st round opponent.

Thanks, we need all the help we can get!

Here is a hypothetical for you.

There has been talk on here of posters from schools at the bottom end of the standings that join in the discussion here and then when their season goes into the tank these posters dissappear.

There has also been talk on here about the recruiting process and players choosing their school because they didn't want to play for a loser.

Now, every poster on here, regardless if they had a winning or losing football team, loved their time at their school and has great memories of their school.

We also note that the programs with the winning records have more posters on this site.

So, if suddenly Central and Wartburg and Coe became traditional 2-8 teams.  Would their fan base become a little more hands off???  Still love their school and team but start following them less and less as the years went on???  Go to fewer games...talk on here less???  Just curious.

As much as I love football if Central did go on the skids I don't think I would post less and I will not attend less games.  The only thing that will keep me away from games is distance or weather.  I don't think I will ever sit through another ice storm again.   ;D ;D

That sounds like you are thinking of moving the family out to Redlands.  You'll make the decision after visiting your son and hanging with PH and his famous Carne Asada!!!

I don't have to go to Redlands to watch good football.  Pella is a lot closer.  All of the IIAC schools are.  Nothing against Heys or Cali but I don't think I will ever move out there.  The three grandkids are here in Iowa and I don't (and the wife would not) want to leave and miss seeing them grow up.

Shameless.

Coe's Season Is Over!

That's right.  Indianapolis Colts defensive back Michael Coe will be placed on injured reserve after having surgery on his knee.

I laughed my arse off!   :D

I only wish I had posted this!

My personal cure for the hangover...

1 Crunchy Taco

In about an hour after, you'll take a dump worthy of song.   :o

Then, good as new.   8)

Regarding Loras...

McGrew:  Good player, runs hard, kind of small, but not afraid to try to run over bigger guys.  May want to consider a slight style change as the Laws of Physics are slightly against him regarding collisions.  He impressed me last year.  Would be good on any IIAC team.  There's still time to transfer to the Rams...I'll send Carne Asada.   ;D

Hall:  Gone to graduation.  He will be missed by the DuHawks.
