At the start of the summer I was ready to pick Coe to win the league. With Willis back I will now put Wartburg first. I think Willis is that good a coach.

Coe and Central will battle for second but I think Central lost to many seniors to beat either Coe or Wartburg. One thing that concerns me as a Central fan is that the Dutch won so many games the past couple of years on guts with some luck thrown in rather than on overwhelming talent. I just don't see a team with so many new starters having the cohesion to win as many close games.

I am going to drink the Kool Aid and pick Simpson to finish fourth. I thought they had some talent a year ago and maybe the coaching change will light the proper fires.

I think Loras will edge Dubuque for fifth. Dubuque had so much ability last year and didn't get it done.

Cornell over Luther for seventh.

My best prediction is that my predictions will be totally wrong.

The things you site as weaknesses for the Dutch are also the things that give me confidence that they will still be competitive.  Their young team same thing three years ago.  I have seen some of those young players and they seem to have the same fire as this last group of senior players.  The desire they have will translate to them knowing that they are never out of a game.

On the Wartburg side, I beleive they are a good team but is the history of the program similiar to Central?

Wartburg has built its football program up a lot in the past decade, but call me arrogant all you want, there is only one team in the conference with that kind of success for all but one of more than 40 years.  Ron Schipper is the reason and, bless his soul, Ron Schipper will continue to influence Central College teams for many years yet even though he is gone.  He was a truly great man, father and coach.

Some leisure reading for those unfamiliar with "Skip":

Schipper was not only the architect of the Central program (and still influential to this day) he was a family man and educator. Anyone who has had an opportunity to meet him remembers him -- he left that kind of distinct and lasting impression on those around him. He is still missed to this day.

He coached team USA in the Aztec Bowl. He has an award named after him through the AFCA, which is given to those who exemplify leadership on and off the field.

Question of the day 8/14-
Besides football, What shows do you have the DVR set for/Never miss.
I'm hooked on USA shows so I have Monk, Psyck, Burn Notice, and In Plain Sight.
Also NCIS, and the CSI's.
NBC's Thursday night lineup is never missed-
My Name is Earl, The Office, 30 Rock, and Scrubs.
Also the Monday Chuck and Heroes.
All the Olympics are DVR'd right now and I've stayed up waaaaaaaay too late to watch them the last few nights, but it is nice not having commercials and it goes a lot faster.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Not sure if anyone had read up on this yet but BV's former SID passed away. He was one of the people that implemented the live scoring stats on  BV's website during the football games

Loras is interesting to me.  There are some...including people close to the team that say the cupboard is bare and it will be a long year.  Then a lot of others on here say the Duhawks will be the surprise team of the conference and do well.  Where is everybody getting their info???

Also interesting that before last season the overall opinion was Dubuque would go back to being a bad team because Belleus was gone.  Now we see things like Dubuque had so much talent last year and they just didn't get it done!!!  ;D

Great question

I am in love with the FX programs:  Damages, The Shield, Rescue Me, The Riches, and Dirt.  The new shows for the fall look outstanding as well.

I also like the shoes on Bravo like Flipping Out and Million Dollar Listing.  I'm a real estate and land development junkie.

I will agree with you on the USA line up.  I am a big fan of Burn Notice.  I also love the Law and Order SVU re-runs that occur daily.

And I have to admit for the better part of the year my evening TV viewing happens to be either WGN or CSN Chicago watching the Cubbies.
