Last but not least, I still keep track of my high school, the Lodi High School Flames, Lodi, California ... where I played wing-back in the old single wing ... with black high tops and leather helmets (that was in the 50's)!

Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again.

PETeacher, welcome to the board.  Good to have another for Clinton Hall resident around here.

Now that you mention it, I also follow West Branch.  Went to college with the son of their head coach, and both are all-around great guys.

Speaking of Cornell, has anyone seen ShowMe lately? He hasn't posted for a couple of days now.

Us Cornell fans, tired of his gas, had him bound and gagged.   ;D

I am, of course, kidding.

Brother ShowMe, where art thou?

We need you to regale us with your wisdom as the Rams begin this weekend.

BTW,

I follow Vista High School and Oceanside High School...favoring Vista when they play Oceanside.  Heys Rev. 3 will be a freshman at Vista.

Oceanside was the CA Div. II State Champs last year.  Helped in part by Vista's win over perrenial SoCal power Mission Viejo.

In CA there is no State Tourney.  The ranked best in SoCal plays the ranked best from NoCal.

Vista's win over MVHS and O-side's subsequent win over Vista, provided O-Side with a power ranking boost.

O-Side has 3 committed to D-1 schools already this year.

I have read this board for too long without posting so I thought I woud join the fun...Besides a PE teacher doesn't do anything all day and this will help keep me occupied.

High School Teams I cheer for:

Montezuma..where I currently coach
Williamsburg..Worked with a lot of the kids and Coach Ritchie was my high school coach
Dowling..Know some of the staff and Coach Wilson was my 4th grade teacher.
AP...went to camp up there every year and know a couple of their coaches alums well.
West Branch...they gave me firs high school coaching job out of college.

Welcome aboard.  Schroeder (spelling) is a huge young man.  He really did a nice job for the Dutch last year.  Montezuma has had some good players play for the Dutch lately are you taking the credit for their football skills?   ;D

The La Porte City Progress-Review reported in this weeks addition that Union High School has 1 incoming senior football player committed to Simpson for next year!!!  ;D

We do have a redshirt sophmore at Miami...Matt Pipho.  So we have that going for us  ;D

Can't have anything contravertial...hence the Simpson Storm and the Luther Norse.  Which, by the way, when listening to announcers call a Luther game is always sounds like they are saying the Luther Norris.  Chuck Norris is hard core...maybe that wouldn't be so bad  ;D

Dolittle--
I'm not sure what CONTRAVERTIAL means but I assume you meant CONTROVERSIAL.  The Luther Norse name came when women's sports were brought into the picture.  Previously it was Luther Noresmen......meaning Vikings......Scandinavian mauraders, attackers, etc.  If it sounds like Norris is only because of the Norwegian broague of the announcer.  :)

6'7" 300 and change.  Good speed.  His brother was good but got too many concussions and his parents made him quit sports.  He just finished dental school at Iowa and is joining his mothers practice here in town.

He was a big kid and the Hawks took a lot of flack for not really going after him heavily when they were going after many linemen that year.  Interesting enough, he hasn't really seen a lot of playing time at Miami, so maybe the Hawks knew something other schools didn't!!!  He is a good kid though and comes from a great family.  Father is an engineer, mother is a dentist, brother is a dentist, and he is pre-med at Miami!!!

LCNorse, sorry about not bothering to proof read my post for spelling errors!!!  I am aware of the Norseman history.  My sisters went to a high school with Statesman as the mascot.  They haven't changed the name to be non-sexist at that school though!!!

I have a lot of ties to the conference.  I played football at both Wartburg and Cornell. So  programs. I favor those two

I do have some former players at Central and have had some very positive interactions with their staff over the last couple seasons. So I root for them when they aren't playing my alma matter.

PE:  welcome!! I got to know did you play for Cornell first and getting a roofing job in Waverly over the summer before going to the Evil Empire? ;D ;D ;D

Football Daddy:  Are you a Norseman and a Knight?

As an old Norskie myself, can't help but cheer for the Roland-Story teams, especially in recent years with nephews competing...  Also, though we've lived and worked in Pella for years, have always had a tough time cheering for Pella, mostly because it's hard for me to cheer for green.  (Even harder than orange, or red/gold combinations!).  I will say that the darker forest green Pella uniforms look better than earlier versions.  With kids approaching competition age, I best get over my fashion problems, I suppose.

And, aside from long-term interest in the Central Dutch and the KC Chiefs, have found myself more and more interested in what ISU is doing.
