I have a lot of ties to the conference.  I played football at both Wartburg and Cornell. So  programs. I favor those two

I do have some former players at Central and have had some very positive interactions with their staff over the last couple seasons. So I root for them when they aren't playing my alma matter.

PE:  welcome!! I got to know did you play for Cornell first and getting a roofing job in Waverly over the summer before going to the Evil Empire?

Or did you start at Wartburg and make a derogatory comment toward one of your classmates.

Bear with me, I've had a few barleys tonight.
A:   I find these jokes pretty amusing.

B:  the over riding theme of athletes and institutions getting in trouble, goes beyond Alabama and Iowa, to Joe Pa. and Notre Dame. I don't think the kids have changed near as much as the rules and technology has. Dan Marino was the 6th QB taken in the draft in 1983, largely on questions about his character. I think we can all agree, he turned out to be a pretty good person and one helluva QB. Not many of our heros could with stand the scrutiny of camera phones and  U-Tube and the rest of todays media. Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Wilt Chamberlain, Hell I would pay big money to see their exploits on high-def. Which dove tails nicely into:

C: the sad front page headlines on D-3. We see this and read about it several times a year anymore. We have posters on here that played with leather helmets, and a lot more that played when a reasonable guess, of how many fingers were flashed in front of your eyes, substituted for post concussion syndrome. All us old farts can testify that the physicals and equipment and trainers are 100 times better now than they used to be. The difference is now some body is writing it where everyone can read it.

Another Knight fan entered the world at 1:56 this morning and God is chuckling away after giving me 2 girls.
Elisa Joy (Ellie) is 7 lb, 2 oz and 19 inches long. Has a nice head of blonde hair like her mom and sister and is quite a cutie if I do say so myself.
Mom and baby are doing excellent.
I am beat.
For the last 4 weeks I've had my phone on me at football practice and even the slightest twitch or sound had me going for it. Go figure my wife calls me for over an hour last night trying to get a hold of me and I never heard a thing. She got a hold of Coach WIlson and he tracked me down.
Its going to take quite a while to make up for that one.
