What is more fun to watch as a fan?  Winning a super close game or doing a monkey stomp on a team that you were not predicted to beat?  For Central last year had both with the 3 OT win over Dubuque and the easier than anticipated victory over SJU.  I only listened to the DBQ game, but witnessed the SJU game, so that probably plays into it, but given our playoff history, I would say the SJU was more fun.  What about the rest of you and when was it?

My gut is to go with the "Monkey Stomp" because of the SJU game last year.... but that has more to do with the back story than the final score. The nail-biter games are fun to watch ocassionally (think Wartburg last season) but when it's all said and done, I'd like to have the game in the bag early. That comfortable cushion is not something Central fans are used to, though.

that is a difficult question.  i would like the mix.  a close game, but in the end your team pulls away and seals the victory early in the 4th/late in the 3rd.
You would have loved being a Central fan last year.  Want to switch loyalties?   ;)

i would hate to be schuned

In college, I think the playoff game in 2003 when the selection show for D3 was talking about how Bethel didn't have an easy bracket as they had Linfield to face if they wanted to go to the Stagg Bowl.  Well Linfield was round 2...Wartburg was round 1.  Went on to beat Bethel and staying with Linfield the whole way.

The anchors for that Selection Show never worked one again. They were the ones that couldn't pronounce Allegheny and Muhlenberg, didn't stick to the script and started ad-libbing like they knew what they were talking about, etc. That Bethel comment was an ad lib. They were actually teeing up a rematch with St. John's, who they'd played two weeks earlier, the week Gagliardi won No. 409, so it was the only Division III football thing these folks had ever heard of.

The producer called me while I was driving home from the D.C. ESPN Zone to apologize about the anchors' performance.

Winning a close game! If i lose, I'd rather lose on the last play of the game. Those games build character.

And were gonna win....win, win, win.  I dont care if I have 30 guys from coal mining towns who grew up on food stamps and the black lung.  Were gonna out play them, out heart them, and out think them.  I dont care if I have to field a team of 9 guys were still gonna stick the run, intercept the pass, and sack the QB.  And when the day is done you will all see.  30 men who are, undersized,  with bones broken, noses bleeding, and metally exhausted will claim, the crown, win the prize, and feed the crow to the naysayers.

Sorry I just got going on the Rudy theme ;D

Don't stop, Cornell needs the Rudy theme

It sure seemed like they were building Bethel up a bit too much for a team that wasn't even hosting its first-round game.

+K for posting that link.  My personal favorite football movie of all time.  I like most of them and have a lot right up there...but Rudy takes that cake.  I am so ready for football!!

Anyone got a countdown?

I really hope King is a good linebacker, LB's is a key position to stop the run and would help things fall into place for Cornell.

Why is he a player to watch?

King is a player to watch because it is my understanding that he is the most likely player to fill the position vacated by Chris Gustufson.  King is a strong kid that loves contact, but at times he is over agressive.  If the Rams are gonna have success this year stopping the run, he, or whoever is the new linebacker, is going to have to have a big year as those are some pretty big shoes to fill.

Are there any other D3 guys we should be watching for in the NFL?
What about the Beaver kid from Whitewater?  Is he still with the Packers?
[/quote]

He was not really with the Packers, invited to the Rookie Mini Camp, and the Pack told Beavers representatives that he would not be asked to stay with the Team, and there would be no Signing.

It's always fun to stomp a rival by a bajillion points, but the most fun I ever had was playing in games where we scored on the last drive to take the lead.  As nail-biting as it can be, nothing is as much fun to talk about with buddies than the fact the team did it in crunch time and won the game.

obviously you would rather loose on the last play of a game then in a blow out.
