Let's get some good talking points going on here so I can become a karma giver/taker by the end of the week.

If you had not chosen the school that you did, but instead had gone to one of the other conference schools, which one would it have been and why?

I am in the same boat as SK, I was looking for a Communication Arts program.  BV was my other IIAC school of choice.  I really liked their radio station, but KWAR definitely grew on me.

I didn't discover UW-Platteville until I was in college.  I had a few high school friends go there and after visiting them once I had watched the campus TV and heard their radio and almost considered transferring (glad I didn't) but I think I would have had a very similar and rewarding experience.   It reminded me a lot of Wartburg.  Small town with a good bar scene, just 30 min. or less to a bigger city.  Plus I would have been closer to Chicago for Cubbies game in the Spring.

DF04 - Here is a question that you could ask as one of your tie-breakers, you might even like this one.  Who will be the all conference first team QB at the end of the year?

I can't imagine why one would commit such blasphemy anyway.  Once I've got 73 more posts under my belt, it will make your karma plummet on this board, as well.

I'm just teaching you how to make your karma plummet  ;D I am one of those rare people that is a fan of all beer.  I can like a Bud just as well as a Guinness!!!  Living in Dubuque we became fans of all beers made in Minny and Wisky.  Strange, but around here I seem to run into people that are either beer snobs and will only drink micro brews...or people that think if it isn't Bud or Miller it ain't beer.

Funny thing is that the weekend we go to the Dubuque/Rockford game we plan on visiting the recently re-opened Potosi Brewery.  And on our way home we are making a stop in Parkersburg to the Blue Stem winery to pick up some beer making supplies.  Now that we are living at the farm my wife has told me I can start home brewing again!!!

If we keep all this talk going tonight you might be able to hit that 200 post count tonight...and then really set to droping my karma!!!  :o

I too am a fan of all beers.  You definitely don't get a figure like this from not being a beer drinker.  I can always go for the cheap stuff if I am low on funds, but don't mind hitting up the local "Bodega Brew Pub" that offers micro and international brews.  I am a fan of Bockfests in the area (New Ulm's Schell Brewery...going back this Feb. and Capitol Brewery in Madison).  I want to do a few more brewery tours...anything you guys recommend in Iowa?

Home brew is on my list of future hobbies.

Beck on University Ave has a micro-brew that usually has some good beer. $5 for Sampler paddle of 5 beers.

We did the Amana brewery tour years ago.
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Hub City Brewery just opened this year.  It is on a farm just east of Oelwein.  They have a very good oatmeal stout.  They converted an old barn into their brewery and offer tours.  They also plan to start up a winery within the next few years.

Not quite the equivilent to the Schell brewery tour...but I bet nice none the less!!!

Dubuque adds 3 new GA's to their football staff.

Byron Abram - From Country Club Hills, IL.  Back up QB the last 4 years to Jermar Jackson.  Also lettered in baseball at UD.  Will coach wide receivers at UD while pursuing his masters in Business Administration.

Lucas Stanton - From Mt. Vernon, played at Cornell, was an assistant there the past 2 seasons coaching running backs and wide receivers.  Was a 3 year starter for Cornell at Running back.  Will coach outside linebackers at UD.

Aaron Brant - From nearby Kieler, WI.  Brant was a 4 year starter on the O-Line at Iowa State.  He earned all-conference honors 3 of his 4 years in the Big 12.  He was drafted by the Chicago Bears before being injured.  Brant will coach running backs for UD while pursuing his masters in Business Administration.

really??? RB??? one would think the o-line would benefit from a former D1/NFL (albiet for a short amount of time) lineman more then rb's???  i know people don't always coach what they played, but it is usually atleast the opposite of what they played (o-line to d-line, saftey/db-qb/wr/te), so you can know what the opposition is/will be trying to do.

Think about this point.  A coach if he wants to become an OC/DC/Head Coach needs to learn the whole game.  He knows the OL now.  He can learn more and become a bigger asset to the staff if he broadens his knowledge.

Do we have to drive to the Chicago area in order for you to pay up???  ;D

I can't figure out if I should be optimistic for Dubuque or have reserved expectations for the Spartans this season  ???

Because of Recent storms in the South Minneapolis Region I will be up there from the 12th of Sept until however long it takes to get houses looked at. So just let him know when you'll be up because chances are i'll be up there still too.

I used a similar question just a different position.  I don't want to seem self serving.  The tie breakers have been posted and you can answer them on the pickem board.  This should help break the ties. There are others than have not checked in on the pickem board dont be shy the more the merrier.

I have heard it all over the past posts, Beaverfan3208 talking about going to different colleges when it took him 5 years to get out of BED.....ahh I mean one college that wasn't to difficult to graduate from.  Beaverofyore, talking about Pizza Rolls, taking dumps, beer, and home brewing.  When he should be concentrating on the important things in life, like his wonderful wife and procreating with her.  This world needs more Linemen that think they can tackle Horses, kick 45 + yard field goals, and threaten people's lives.

Yore, you going to watch the little bro at all this year?  Let me know I will meet you at a game.

UNL....wow, probably would have walked on huh Beaverfan?
Or just get laughed at by another UNL player?

Dog you have two choices.  I can throw a couple dogs in a box and send them overnight and hope the topings do not spill off.  Or you can plan a trip to Chicago and I will take you to Hot Dougs for his world famous duck fat french fries.  Ask DF1, I know she has tasted these babies, and they are worth the drive.

No just would have gone to school...I'm surprised BeaverofYore didn't get a full ride (from UNL) considering the fact that he could tackle horses and kick 45+ yard field goals haha. In fact i heard that he once tossed a hay bail so far that it went all the way around the world and came back and hit him in the back of the head.
