Im sorry Heys but brother ShowMe has ruined it for me.  I was really hoping that Cornell would pull out of the cellar this year and win some ball games.  I figured that it would make the conference stronger and show kudos to the Cornell players/coaching staff for making things happen.

Facts are facts and Rudy is already an award winning movie.  We have had enough tear jerker football movies about hope and determination.  The funny thing is if Cornell goes 0-4 ShowMe will still be blabbering his mouth but what about 0-6 and then 0-10.  What are you going to say then?

We have pride!

Now what will you say if the shoe was on the other foot? I can see you are spoiled, out of touch with lossing.

PH should note that not only did Dillon call his son the best TE in the conference.  But there is also a picture of Jr. in the paper!!!

Where?  We haven't seen him since June...we've forgotten what he looks like.

It is funny the way some people think.  A poster on the Des Moines Register site noted if Grandview couldn't beat Coe in their scrimmage they would have a long year.  In their mind since Grandview offers scholarships and Coe doesn't, that makes Coe the inferior team.  I got a good chuckle out of that thinking.

MANY kids think that they'll come in and dominate in D3.  One of my most favorite things to watch was the cocky new freshmen come in and line up against the jr/sr linemen and get the backs of their jerseys all muddy.  A little attitude adjustment in the form of physical domination does wonders.

Things I learned as a freshman:  college defenders were too darn smart and fast to simply beat them to the corner; there is a lot to be said for experience; there's usually a huge difference in the body of an 18-year old HS stud and a 22-year old college stud; college guys really know how to hit, and it hurt!  With all the weight training in HS these days perhaps the physical gaps have lessened a bit.  Still don't think a team comprised of mostly underclassmen can compete well.  (Although I thought the Wartburg D a couple of years ago, with all those impressive sophs....now Srs....that was a scarey D)

My very first IIAC college FB carry was against BV my freshman yr, and some dude jacked me so hard on a simple off-tackle play that my eyes crossed for about 20 seconds...I totally fumbled the ball, but for some reason they called the play dead.  I stumbled back to the huddle, wondered what the hell just happened.  Great memories.

Um, actually I don't have it in me to talk like that.

While I can laugh at some smack talk, I just don't like doing it.  I guess I just respect the other teams too much, and hope they respect my team back.  I want my team to win, and it hurts when they lose (especially triple OT games to Central) but in the end it's a d3 football game.  If I am at the game and see someone from this site while there I would hope to share a beer with them.  I don't hate them because they support a rival team.

D-Dog, you hit on it exactly. Respect is what it's all about, and it's not given until it is earned. The Wartburg,Central, and Coe posters on here may be arrogant, but they have earned the right to be on the field. And though there may be some good-natured kidding, or even some smack, they have respect for all the conference schools. UNLESS there is someone who makes wild boasts and predictions with nothing to back them up. And if it's one who claims to represent the program, all it does is diminish the respect for that program. I'm sure if they were connected in some way to the program the coach would have sent out a gag order a long time ago. No coach wants to put a target on his team's back.

Please don't consider this disrespectful but you don't know with I know. Therefore, you don't really understand and making assumptions.

We are at the bottom of the pole, can't go any lower, so not much to lose with a target.
on our back. On the other side, your are sending a message to the Cornell players and I'm willing to bet some are glad we're showing our pride.

There's always next year!!!  He could always try that approach!!!

Maybe if people wouldn't complain so much about ShowMe he wouldn't be so out there in his posts?!?!  He seems to get revved up when he is called out.  Otherwise he just seems to be fired up and a good cheerleader until he starts getting bashed.  Then he does get a little over the top.  I guess I would rather have cheerleading for your team then talking down about other teams.

I still hope Cornell picks up a few wins this year.  They have some good kids in their program.  I just hope this year still sees another "Debacle against Dubuque" headline in a local paper after the Cornell/Dubuque game!!!  ;D

I have not disrespected nobody's team. I have only stated that they are overrated, thats not disrespect. It's just different from what you beleive and have come accustom too.
Tell me where I bashed your team and I will apologize.

We need a winning attitude at Cornell and it has to start now!

For the record, I did note it.  How could I argue with the man?   ;D

But to be objective, I am going to say that I think he is among the best in the league with Hoerner and the Central kid that we had whacked...er...that pulled up lame.  ;D

And further, I think they are among the best in D3.

If you want to look at the stats, why wouldn't Hoerner be your man.  That kid had a good year and he works very hard on every snap from what I saw rewatching '07 Wartburg/Cornell game film earlier this week.

Jr. for his part is still growing into his position.  I watched Jr. shove around several Wartburg players and came away knowing that he got the better of Wartburg's DT

Then again, if I am a coach and I know nothing but the here and now...when you line those two boys up next to one another...

I'd find a way to get BOTH of them on the field at the same time.  Each has their strengths.

The real question is what if they swapped teams?

I'm settling down now, leave me alone.

I only have 14 days before the football season starts and the records will do the talking.

Hmm, not the guy on the top row of the bleachers???  I can see the #2 and what looks like a 1 in front of that.

Oops, PH just answered my question.

You know, ShowMe, not a single poster would dislike you like we do had you not introduced yourself to the board with the "You all are going to eat crow at the end of the season. Cornell wins, you all suck" attitude. You said that crap to elicit a response, and we responded. Then you try to call foul because we aren't letting you support your team in the way you want to. You can support any way you want, and we will defend in the same way we have been. At the end of the day, though, you are the only one here that takes this as a personal afront.

In case you hadn't noticed, we're all pretty good friends in here -- even Klop and I get along. We all have buddies on here from other schools, and most of us are good people (even though some of these guys didn't have the good sense to go to Central....I can only hold that against them for so long, right?)  ;)

My point is....don't upset the apple cart. We grant respect where respect is earned. Want proof? Read back a ways. I was one of the first people to give UD props...I hinged a lot of my Pick Ems on them last year. When we see positive things going on, there is bound to be a comment.

If you insist on typing every post with your dukes up, ready to fight, people are going to stop responding. Even worse for you, you are going to lose the little credibility that you have left. My free advice to you....chill out, and think (don't drink) before you post.  ;D

In the spirit of the day, I'll even throw in a Go Cornell!

[The preceding PSA brought to you by the NRA, now back to your regularly scheduled programming.]

Sorry -- this post comes a bit late....all is now calm in here....

PH if I can make it to a game that you'll be at, you should definately bring some In and Out, or even some carne asada.  I don't care if its cold even as it will most likely be.   I have been craving that stuff for almost 2 years now but unfortunately we dont have that stuff in the midwest, atleast not like they have in Cali.  That stuff alone would be worth the trip.
