Anyone who thinks Central needs Houdini to beat Simpson has rabbits in his hat.  A little prestidigitation might be needed early in the season but, by the time Simpson gets to town, Central will be a team of seasoned veterans.  The Storm will feel like they have been sawed in two and made to disappear.

And on the subject of the ICCC prez, I am reminded of the words of W.C. Fields, "I'd rather have two women of 21 than one of 42."  I probably have the numbers wrong, but you get the message.

So you are saying the game won't be close this year ??? ???Be careful those predictions can come back to haunt you 8) 8) 8)

He could be predicting what happened the last time these two teams met in Pella the last game of the season.  I don't want to put words in any ones mouth just saying history does repeat itself.

Well if we're not criticizing his actions, but rather his inability to keep them secret, doesn't that mean we're really deriding the guy for being a poor liar?
I agree completely with Warthog.  I think someone in his position represents his college 24/7.  He doesn't have the luxury of saying this was something that happened on his own time, so it should not matter.  Would you want to send your daughter to a school where the president was seen partying with bikini clad females half his age and who had admitted to transcript tampering?  Hmmm, now what could have lead him to tampering with a student's transcript?  That picture gives me a darn good guess.

Then again, maybe I am just one of those uptight people from Pella.   :D :D :D

Any word on how LC's scrimmage went today?...I just heard D looked good...and it looks like freshman qb from Vally is slotted in as the starter right now.

I don't hear much about the QBs so I would love to know how the new kid from WDM Valley compares to Stonerook (sophomore QB from Colorado).  Stonerook looked like he had a pretty decent arm and release in the very limited time I saw him in a scrimmage and late in the Waldorf game last year.  Ruckebeil (senior that only played basketball last year) looked decent in pregame warm-ups back in 2006 if I remember correctly (wasn't he #7?).

This would be a good year to play a couple of dogs to start the season to let the offense develop, but St. Olaf is also replacing coaches and players.

Yes he was number 7 however from what I have heard he got moved to TE along with Shneider(qb in the cornell game) got moved to FS. Sounds like the comp is between Stonerook and the fresh from WDM, sounds like the fresh has the edge right now. Durnin looking to get his recruits on the field early maybe...Yes St. Olaf is replacing a lot but don't expect them to be to easy, should be a very good test for the Norse early on as it has been the past few years.

I know the Luther followers have been talking about the two RBs who did not show up and the QB situation, but the DB situation must be really thin right now.  Not only did a QB who started a game last year get moved to DB, but they also were going to move Tyler Bass to DB before the RBs did not show up.  The DBs sound like they need to make a t-shirt that says "The Thin, Hopefully Proud, DBs!"

Luckily St. Olaf does not return the QB and WRs from that flying circus that they had the past few seasons.  The Oles will still be a good preseason game even if the Norse had more veterans on offense, but they had the best passing game on the Norse schedule last year.

Hey, Beav

Not sure if you have some inside info about some sub-culture of twisted people in Pella hiding in their basements, or if you're just trying to crack a funny.  My experience is that people have an appropriate perspective on alcohol here in town, but it's just not as important a social custom as many other places.

That you choose to spend your time watching people lurk around in their basement, sipping hooch in the darkness and whatever else...well, that seems a bit voyeuristic & odd to me, but without knowing you, I suppose I best not comment on things when I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Well I was mostly joking, but since you brought it up, I live in the very corner of northwest Iowa, which is very similar to the area around Pella according to everyone who has ever lived in or visited both places.  Having lived here for a while now, it's interesting the way people act differently depending on who they're around (even more so than most people).

I know I'm generalizing here, but a lot of people seem to have a holier-than-thou attitude in their home area, but take them 10 miles out of town and they want to slam whiskeys and head to the nearest strip club.

And I do know of people who only drink at home if they're inside with the shades closed for fear of upsetting the teetotalers.  There's nothing wrong with choosing not to drink, I just find it amusing the way some people around here act like having a beer is akin to mainlining heroin.

So, brave defender of Dutch sensibilities, although there is some truth to my comments, I was really just kidding around.  No reason to get your panties in a bunch over it.
When it's 3rd and 10, you can take the milk drinkers, and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time.
