I am surprised that Snead is still a QB, as good of QB as he was, I alway thought his true calling was at safety or SLB.
Yea, sure, you just don't want us to find a good QB.   ;)  He looked very good on the running plays to me.
I agree with you on the running plays.  He looked the the same QB that we have had the last three years running the option and on the QB options.
That is quite a compliment, but I do agree he had a very familiar look.  Now, if he can just get the arm to look the same, it should be 3 more years of very exciting football.

I saw similar looks from both QB's throwing the ball the same as the last QB when he was a sophmore.  I think the offense might do ok this year.  I think that Coach Mac has some good men in that spot and hopefully they can grow into the position as well as the last one did.

Sounds like Wartburg better give it up for this year and start focusing on next year. I hope we can keep it within 3 scores against the mighty rams.

I do not think I would go chagning my predictions for the season based on Wartburgs scrimage.  Yordi is a good QB and as long as the boys will follow him they will still be at the top.  As much as I would like to see a changing of the guard at the top, I do not see it this season.  Maybe we will have a suprise, like Cornell winning a ball game ;)  Sorry Heys and Ash I just wanted to stir brother ShowMe up a bit.  One more week until the IIAC kicks off and we get to see how boys hit the ground running.

You know what the dog said when the lawn mower ran over his tail, it won't be long now!

and it just might be Wartburg too! It's not impossible!

No need to change plans now, time will tell the truth.

Well, if anyone can have a stellar season, but still manage to lose to a middle- to a bottom-feeder team, it's Wartburg*. Cornell, do you guys have a victory bell to ring?  ;D

*2007-Augsburg, 2006-UD, 2005-Luther, 2004-Loras and BV...

Yes, it's possible

We need some Straight Talk, your footing states Central has won 29 IIAC Championships, some recent research by a fine respectable blogger reports Central at 21 conference Championships. I need to know the turth so that I may adjust my dreams for Cornell to take the lead in conference championship wins

That's not quite accurate-
Luther's 2005 team only finished 1 spot below Wartburg in the standings. In 2004, BV was in the drivers seat for a conf title up to the very end but choked. The rest I will give you though. Barely on UD in '06. But definitely on Augsburg and Loras.

So you mention that Luther only finished 1 spot below Wartburg when Warty went 6-2 with Luther going 5-3 in 2005...but you will give him Dubuque when in 2006 Wartburg went 6-2 and Dubuque went 5-3???

ShowMe-

Central has 21 conferce titles during the last 40 years, and 29 is total conference championships.

FYI-I'll be ordering a few "beat wartburg" shirts...especilly one for my warthog father-in-law!!!

I see that WC now has their roster posted on their web site

Walston Hoover

True, but Wartburg was 6-1 heading into the last week with a chance for the playoffs while UD seemingly had nothing but pride to play for at 4-3.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Anyone on here have any insight on/if there will be any first year players that will make an imediate impact this season?   Every year it seems there are those players, however it is hard to figure out who they will be...

warthog

I'm sure Wartburg will have some players contribute right away.  I see they tapped MEPO's talent pool, so that is a start.

W'loo Courier article on WC running backs Alex Boom and Tim Jones

http://wcfcourier.com/articles/2008/09/02/sports/local/10579669.txt

Gentlemen, time for a little Straight Talk,

The Wartburg roster list both Mr. Boom and Mr. Jones at  5' 11". Take a look at the picture in this article. It looks like Mr. Jones is at least 2" taller than Mr. Boom. Now something is not right, help me to understand. I'm thinking it's called paper intimidation.  Are the mighty Knights engaged in physiological warfare? Is this a sign of confidence?

QuoteVideo streaming a hit for Luther Athletic Department
Posted: Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 by Decorahnews.com

Last spring's experiment with video streaming of Luther College athletic events was so successful that Luther will offer video streaming of at least 41 athletic events this school year.

Luther Sports Information Director Dave Blanchard says 220 people logged on last spring to watch a Luther versus Wartburg basketball game on the Internet. The video streaming was especially popular with out-of-town parents of athletic team members.

In fact, Luther's experiment with video streaming of athletic events was such a success that Wartburg, Coe, Loras and other Iowa Conference colleges have decided to follow suit. That led to a joint contract between the schools and the same video streaming provider.

Luther will broadcast all home football games this fall, starting with this Saturday's game. A complete video streaming schedule is available at the Luther sports website, http://sports.luther.edu
