I took a bit of a sidetrack and drove through Waverly.

I drove around W-H Stadium...very nice, 1st class facility.

The new fitness center really complements the football stadium.

An early scouting trip for Rev. 3 perhaps???  ;D

It's not too early to start...

I'm going to Chipotle(sp?) Stadium to watch the DBQ after the Rams put the wood to Grinnell.

:)

We're bringing plenty of tailgating supplies...enough to handle two tailgate parties...and hopefully 2 IIAC victories!!!

Mmm, chipotle, food, good

PH, and all his talk of Carne Asada has me noticing a mobile Carne Asada stand in Waterloo.  I will have to stop there soon...diet be damned  ;)

If guess we are giving weather reports. It is a constant rain here in North Carolina. Pretty much gonna be like that for the next couple weeks. Once Hurricane Hanna loses energy then we have Ike right behind her.

O your way back you'll have to travel through Decorah...LC looks a lot different since floods...still the best looking campus in the state though...I might be a little biased...

WH tough night tonight against Valley :'(  :'( :'(

Ouch, Muskies take one on the chin compliments of Bettendorf.  Some discipline handed out to 5 Muskie starters, but I don't think having them on the field would have made the difference.  Bettendorf looks to be that good.

Hopefully my Saturday team has better luck.  It sounds like the weather will cooperate.  It should be a nice opening day day for IIAC teams.

S-K - nothing, absolutely nothing.

There has to be a punter and a kicker at Cornell, tryout each student, girls too, until we find a punter to average 40 yards a kick and a kicker to make field goals inside the 30.

NCAA should move Men's Soccer to the Spring or Winter so we can get some of those guys out to kick for the football team.

The one thing I find a little suprizing is the relative small size of Wartburg's freshman class. (49)
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I would expect Coach Willis will have more new Knights next year.

Warthog, I had heard that Coach K wanted to recurit around 50 kids this year instead of the 60 to 90 kids in the past. It sounds like he was right on that number before he left.

Wartburg Fan:  Saying he wanted 50 kids could be the face saving way of saying, "I can't recruit as well as Coach Willis."  I for one think the more the merrier.  Besides 25 more guys out for football at $30,000.00 a toss comes out to 3/4 of a million dollars.

Another reason; in 2003 Wartburg took six freshman out to Oregon for the playoff game with Linfield.  In 2006 only two were left.  Where would the Knights have been three years later without some of those 2003 freshman players that didn't travel with the team out west?

Another reason; the 2003 seniors had quite a stable of defensive linemen.  Remember however, the one that started some games and played the most downs their freshman year became involved with other interest and didn't play after the 2000 season.  Where would the Knights have been if they stopped recruiting the likes of Vinny and JJ when they landed what they thought was going to be the answer?

Lets hope that big leg will be put to good use today.  I'm about to leave for beautiful Decorah...and hopefully a Norse victory.  I can't wait to take my place high atop Carlson Stadium (with a beverage) for 3 hours of collage FB.  Good Luck to all other IIAC teams and lets hope for victories and no injuries.   GO NORSE!     CLCLONES RULES!!

Rapidly approaching 6 hours to kickoff.  The excitment in the air  is so palpable you can cut it with a knife,  Oh wait, its just the fog :)  Can't wait for the unveiling of the '08 edition of the dynasty.  Go Dutch

Good luck to all in the IIAC and all of D3 football.
