I think as long as Luther is leaving tradition behind we might as well see Central jump on that bandwagon.  Dress up the old Patriots helmet logo in a Dutch Boy outfit and slap that on the Dutch helmets!!!  Then watch this board explode with conversation  ;D

UD flight student Grant Vogt, one of the two students involved in last weeks accident died from his injuries today.  Thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight.

On that, we can all agree. Thoughts and prayers also to the surviving student.

Better yet lets slap the logo for Dutch Boy paint on the side of the helmet.  That would make an intimidating impression :D

The concept that you must promote a team automatically if they win is exactly what's wrong with polls, especially the Division I FBS Top 25. A poll shouldn't just be a measure of attrition -- it should tell you who the best teams are at any given time.

Pat I agree with you on this.  There is no reason that Ohio State should have stayed in the same spot they were in last week considering their piss poor showing against Ohio.  Just as I feels its a bit overzealous when teams like Eastern Carolina jump into the 14th spot after being unranked the previous week.  I am happy to see some movement in the polls this season regardless of teams playing or not.  In years past its seemed at thought the top 3 teams could camp out at the top regardless of how they played.

But if OhHowIHateOhioState had moved down in the polls, it would have meant less hype for the USC game. It's all about money, at least at that level. Just one more reason to love Division III.

Why not the Pillsbury dough boy with Dutch letters.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  Since you are attacking out nice traditional unis.  If you can not laugh at yourself life would be really rough.  As we can see from the post about that student up at UD.  That brings home how short life can be.  Truly sorry about the him.  Sorry for his family as well.  Thoughts and prayers are offered for the family.

Where are you Heys.  My big weekend is coming up.  Are you still coming to the game Saturday night.  Looking forward to seeing my favorite QB and coach this weekend.  Hoping for selfish reasons that the IIAC (UD) loses a game.  Maybe that curse will still be in effect. What do you think Doolittle?

Showme I see you out there.  Glad to see you have kicked the bucket.  I didn't go with the Rams in the pickems but I hope for Cornell they prove me wrong.  I hope they can get one from the MIAC for us.

Along the same lines, this just in from Coe:
In a pre-election move to make nice with it's conservative alumni base (both of them), Coe is dumping the Kohawk moniker for the Moose. Bullwinkle decals are on order for the helmets. It is hoped they will arrive in time for the Cornell game so we can have a Moose parade to Mount Vernon. Also, regarding school colors, crimson will be changed to red and gold also becomes red. It's going to be hell on our SID, who also happens to be color blind.

Hey since I will be out in Cali for the Redlands/UD game I may not get the pickem results posted till Monday at the earliest.

Charlie that is funny stuff.  At least with Bullwinkle I will know what a moose is I still don't know what a kohawk is.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  Is that some kind of prairie chicken?   ;D ;D ;D

Mr. Heys was telling me last weekend he was planning on spending saturday with you in Redlands.  And taking you out to Eddies Carne Asada as well!!!  If that goes against your diet you can always save it and bring it back to me  ;D

I will say after watching the Spartans last weekend that they are an improved team from last seasons team.  Better, and deeper.  That doesn't mean they will win at Redlands...or at Central or at Wartburg for that matter.  But they do look very very good so far!!!  And I will throw 3 exclamation marks in there for you  :P

I think we can wait until Monday DF04. Thank you for your efforts.

As for the Kohawk, I have two answers:
The correct one, which is a derivative of the (American) Indian word ko, meaning "like", and hawk, the state bird. So, like a hawk (or, in good times, like THE Hawks).
Or my wife's favorite, a chickenhawk (think Foghorn Leghorn).

Which begs the question: what's a Duhawk? (I know the answer, but does anyone else?)

Thanks that's good stuff.  I knew there had to be a story behind it but unless you ask some one like you in the know they just say I don't know.   ;D ;D ;D

Which begs the question: what's a Duhawk? (I know the answer, but does anyone else?)

Duhawk was coined by a Detroit newspaper writer.  I could go on and on about Loras keeping this name.  But it would probably be because I was reminded once again this past weekend about the city of Dubuque and the Loras bias against UD that many of them have.  Which wouldn't really be fair because I have found some very nice Loras posters on this board that really don't represent what I continue to see anytime I visit Dubuque...I probably just always run into the wrong people!!!
