It's hard to get excited this week with Central not playing.  It's like you wait forever for football to come again, get one little taste and then it's back to waiting.  I'm sure we will be talkative next week.

I figured the silence was because of the Central Nations lowered expectations for this season  ;D ;D ;D

After UD's domination last week, I think everyone else is playing for 2nd place in the conference.  I heard UD is already printing shirts w/ 2008 IIAC football champions the UD Spartans.

National Champs t-shirts!!!  Which will sell really well in Latin America after UD loses at Redlands, at Central, and at Wartburg

On second thought, tomorrow is a good day not to be playing.  I just remembered the weather projection for 4 inches of rain in some parts of Iowa and not playing will be just fine by me.  Hope everyone stays healthy regardless of the weather for their games.

Anybody else notice how slow the board got after Cornell lost?  ShowMe is still around, but he finally decided to let the team do the talking on the field.  Now I'm bored.   :o :o :o

We're still in the non-con part of the schedule...and the IIAC didn't exactly cover themselves in glory last week >:(

Get us to week 3 and the start of conference play...then we will see some talk on here.  Any big games that week???  Anybody care about Wartburg @ Central or Coe @ Cornell???  Are those big games???  ;D

Looking forward to making a much shorter trip this weekend to see the UW-Whitewater/UW-Eau Claire game and the Wartburg/Augsburg game. Last weekend we drove a little over 1,000 miles in the pursuit of Division III football. This week it'll be a lot less. :)

What to watch: Despite 22 more victories than Augsburg since 2004, Wartburg has had trouble with Augsburg. Aside from a blowout win two years ago, the other three meetings have been decided by three points or less. ... Clint Donovan, who caught the game-tying touchdown for Augsburg in last year's game, transferred to Wartburg this season. Donovan, a junior, is being used as a back-up tailback, slot receiver and on special teams for the Knights. ... Augsburg returns 19 of 22 starters from a 5-5 club, including the dynamic senior duo of quarterback Jordan Berg and 6-foot-2 receiver Royce Winford. Berg has thrown for 300 yards or more in six consecutive games, and is closing in on becoming the school's all-time passing leader. Winford has 163 career receptions for 2,244 yards – ranking third all-time in school history.

Who's house did he work on Koehler's or Willis'? :D
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Maybe Neumann's?   :D  How many years before that question, in some form, goes away?  Good you WB fans can laugh at it yourselves, AEN.  It could be around for a long time to come.

Augsburg's coach is actually his brother in-law.  I think he just wanted to get out of the twin cities.

D-dog, is the UD v. Redlands game going to be webcast anywhere, or will be relying on live stats.

BTW:  What are your thoughts on the game.  What does UD need to do to beat the Redlands.  Can the new QB put this team on his shoulders and ride back into the midwest sunset with a victory?  Or will the desert dogs of the Redlands throw hot air in the UD players faces and send them home sundburned and scared?

I hope to be kept updated on this while watching USC vs. Ohio State.

I wonder...are the Spartans flying out today to arrive Thursday or do they Fly in Friday?

That extra day to acclimate could make all the difference.

Flying dehydrates.  Redlands is dry, so you don't seem to sweat...it dries off you before you know it...I could see DBQ kids cramping up.

Would be shame to lose opportunities that way, when playmakers are debilitated.

I think someone posted earlier that the Spartans flew out on Thursday.

Yes, the Spartans flew to Redlands thursday.  Hopefully they play better than how I suspect the Buckeyes will fare against the Trojans that same night  ;D

Also, I hope they are drinking lots of water and eating bananas...not loads and loads from El Burrito!!!
SCIAC posters have spread the word throughout the west to drink properly.

Driving down the freeway this morning at 9a.m., it was 103 degrees and at 4 p.m. it was 114 degrees.  As they say in Redlands, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
