I feel like I should travel to the Old Norse and Old Dutch houses and spend an entire day listening to what they have to say about football and life in general.   Wise men they are.

46-9 Redlands...deep in the 4th.  Benches cleared by both teams at this point.

Hey Dolittle,
Yes, come to Luther land to see the Rockettes.  How about meeting at the "hot dog stand" on the north end of the game field (near the Regents Center) either before the game at 12:30 or at half time.

Predictions of the game:  In '06 Bellarus (sp?) left the Norse laying all over the field on several runs.  We looked silly.  Last year Jamar ran wild...much too fast for the Rockettes.  This year, since I have not seem UD play, if they are fast UD wins as the Norse wouldn't keep up.  If not, Luther might win.  Should be an interesting game if Norse cann establish a rush.

Hope to meet you.  I will be wearing a blue shirt.....along with 1500 other people.  :)

LC, Floyd or Thunderbolt if you want to join us please do.

I will plan to meet up with you before the game about 12:30...sounds like fun.  Since I will also be wearing blue...just look for the short, fat guy  ;D

That sounds like a good plan to me. I look forward to it. No idea what I'm wearing tomorrow, let alone Saturday, but as my laundry situation starts to clarify I will advise.

Haven't been to Ash in a long time, can't wait till Saturday.

Go Kohawks!!

With working at the Gazette and working with the guy who runs the Iowa Conference office I know too much for my own good and don't want to get myself into trouble.  I have also developed a pretty good friendship with one of the Kohawk coaches, so the less I say the better.
I think the Kohawks will look back at this year as a success.  Even if they go 6-4.  Playing tough non-conference opponents is something that makes me excited going forward. I haven't seen more then the first half of the first quarter of the Gustavus game, but I did write up the box score for the Coe vs. Augustana game so I am familiar with what they are doing.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Well to go 6-4 now the Kohawks would have to go 6-2 in conference play.  After going 5-3 each of the last 2 seasons...That would be a success!!!  And 6-2 got you a conference co-championship in 2004...so there you go.

No arguement here.  I think you have hit it.  I think that if Coe would go 6-2 in the IIAC they will be in 3rd by themselves.  Coe can lose to Wartburg and Central and run the table then and accomplish that goal.  UD and Simpson may have something to say about that.  Not to say that is how or will happen but I can see what you are driving at.

Even after two non-conference losses, I don't sense the Kohawk goal has changed at all. Coe plays for championships, not third place. And we're not conceding to Wartburg or Central by any means.

Absolutely.
My feelings in no way represent anyone affiliated with the Kohawk football team, I am just a fan.  In my comment I was trying to show support for a tough non-conference schedule.  I think we will go 8-0 in conference, but 6-4 with the schedule the way it is would satisfy this fan.

Wow, closer games than I expected.  Simpson and WHO, wow 9-6...
Auggie and Wartburg looked good
Other than that, good week of football???
Not so much from Cedar Rapids, but thanks for visiting.

Little sore from the loss...whoa, sorry to drop a line, but I do not just visit I am here...It does seem that Coe is dropping a little from the dominance they have had in the past.  Will there only be 2 top teams this year battling it out (wartburg/central)?  I know Gustavus is from a tough conference, and they are a solid team but, I truely thought Coe was going to pull it off, I am sorry I had to be the sour grapes and well I didn't mention Coe.

Can't wait till next saturday!

Id use dominance very loosely. :)

Did anyone else read the gazette article where the Cornell QB was promised by his coach that he would be all-district?

Is that a mis quote, or what?

I just looked that up...don't know what the kid was thinking. Hes been around over a year, should know we have conferences and regions. Either way thats a pretty big mountain to climb. Kind of dissapointing they are more worried about him being all great than winning games as a team. I dont see Cornell winning an IIAC game again this year...

Trying to figure out how Central will beat Wartburg this week is like trying to guess which Iowa football player will violate which part of the Iowa penal code next.  The possibilities are numerous and it is inevitable.

Kinda makes you wonder about the coaching and why they are winless if every player is the best. I believe that's TE, RB, and QB now.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

from the article, i would say it's dillon that is a bit over confident in his QB.  He said "Dillon guaranteed that I'd be all-district."  I dont quite know what all-district is in the IIAC, maybe something cornell coaches make up at the end of the year so their players get some recognition  :o

the other thing i gather from that article -- 579 yards of offense????? holy cow!  i thought ShowMe said the defense was going to be better?
i'm pretty positive on only one of my preseason predictions now.. cornell won't win a conference game.

I am wondering if every kid on the Cornell roster gets told by Dillon they will be starting and making "all-district"

Bush actually is a pretty good QB, my questions are...Is his head screwed on straight?  And will he be allowed to do anything with his talent with Dillon as HC?

I think most IIAC teams would be happy with the TE and RB Cornell have.  There is some talent in Mt. Vernon...just not enough of it.
